Alright everyone...im shopping for some new rims at the mo but i dont wanna buy some and then find out they rub like a biatch!! Im not too keen on the idea of havin to get my arches rolled/modified either.
So the big question is, whats the widest in 19's i can go with a sensible drop without havin to mod the arches and no rubbing issues.
I would also imagine that i would be better off using a 255/30/19 rear rather than the 265 thats more common...Is this tyre choice wise?
Hope you can help :)

Get 19X8.5 and use 255/30 rear tyres. This is the safest approach even with an aggressive offset like ET35 (almost max. on non-M E46s). Again tried and 'very' tested.

I was really hopeing for a staggered setup -8.5jfront / 9.5jrear
If i were to go for 8.5j with a 235/35/19 + 9.5j with a 255/30/19 do you think i would have any probs?

Your rear tyres will look very stretched over the rim. It will not make your rear end look wider, you will not get more rubber contact on the tarmac. 9.5" wheels are designed for 265 tyres. I will not force it. If you really want 9.5" wheels, sort out your rear arches.

It doesnt matter if you get 8.5j all round, you can still use a staggered tyre setup. 265/30 19 should not rub if the offset is around 40 iirc

i had 8.5 all round with 265/30/19 rubber at the rear and 235/30/19 rubber up front no rubbing and it was slammed on coilovers!

I have 8.5x19 with 235 up front and 265/30 on the rear and to be honest I don't think I would want to go for the over stretched look simply due to the increased risk of damaging the wheels with small bumps, potholes in the road.
If you don't use your car that much it might be an option but otherwise stick to 8.5J or 9J max.
