Dear All...

Thinking of lowering my ride and using the eibach pro kit but keeping my standard vert shocks. Has anyone done this and what are your experiences?

Don't really want to spend too much on this mod so please be easy on the suggestions :)

Also will the ride quality change significantly?

many thanks

Got exactly the same setup on my car, and the drop is perfect. Ride is not compromised, it's pretty much identical to factory, and I'm also running on factory shocks too

I've got my kit going on soon with standard shocks and I'm practically creaming myself in anticipation!

I had the eibach setup on my old e36 328is and was excellent, Ride was slightly firmer but not bouncy or uncomfortable in the slightest.

With my E46 I went for Boge springs which are pretty much the same, they are also Progressivly wound. From my experience go For the Boge ones The quality of the ride is excellent and no better or worse than the eibach. The only differences between Eibach and Boge:

1. The Boges are Red and Eibachs Black
2. You pay a bit more for the Eibachs

Well thats my opinion..... [read

I have contacted a few dealers and all of the are saying that they will not fit Eibach springs on the car as this infringes the warranty. OK so I asked what product can you fit that will lower the car a further 15mm from the standard sports set-up and the answer that they can not help, unless I pay out over £1000 for the ACS sports suspension or £2000 for the racing suspension set up and even then the still can not tell me what will the difference will be. When I contact ACS in Germany they tell me to contact BMW in the UK all they say is contact your local dealer thats great help.

So if I do decide to go ahead and get a set of Eibach Pro-kit springs by an independent BMW specialist what are the risks to potential problems in doing so considering I am keeping the car for a further 3 years.

Such as what could got wrong, and what I will have to pay out, I believe that I have read that on some E46’s the sub frame can crack, generally this can be covered by the warranty if it happens but the dealer may say it’s the Eibach springs what caused the fault and it becomes a very expensive repair job I would have thought. I want to know the risks so I can make a qualified decision to either stay with the current set up of go for the Eibach Pro-kit springs. Thanks all.

Sorry for stealing the thread :o

What? I guess your dealer forgot the £250 option of just upgrading the springs. I guess he also didn't know that Eibach make ACS springs.

If you do go ahead and purchase new springs from an Independant, as long as they are installed correctly, trust me, nothing will go wrong. I've been running my setup for nearly 2 years now and not a single issue. I know Nick and Durgesh are the same, Eibach's with no issues

Estoril Sport - Thats interesting....I think this may depend from dealer to dealer? If I remember correctly Peppernick had a long list of mods whilst his 330 was under warranty and they didn't have a problem with this. Whether he had made any claims I am not sure about.

Pepper.....can you shed any light on this mate? [hmm

Hi BigFas :)

Yep told the chap at the dealers that Eibach make the springs for ACS it still didn’t convince them to fit them. <O:p</O:p

I would go with the ACS springs at £250 if they would drop the car the same as the Eibach' but I have been told that the ACS springs are no different to the springs I have already which are Mtech sports springs. <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1026 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" alt="" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href='\\"http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif\\"' src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Carlton/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image002.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>

Pepper.....can you shed any light on this mate?

Guys, why is everyone scared s***less about damage with aftermarket parts and warranty void??? As long as you go for tried and tested products, what could possibly go wrong? What damage can Eibach Pro-Kit do to your chassis if installed correctly? The sub-frame issue affects mainly M52 engined E46 coupes manufactured between 1999-2000. If the sub-frame goes, no matter what suspension you have on, it will still go!

Certain mods you take a risk (eg:S/C, nitrous), majority of them just do some homework and go buy the ones you like. I've never come across another nation as hard up about warranty issues as the Brits....and people are willing to pay through their noses just to keep that so called 'magical' warranty. It's no magic, just a safety net for some.

Frankly, I'll be very surprised if the dealer can tell the difference between the Eibach Pro-Kit and OEM sport springs. Both are black and unless you know what you're looking at in aftermarket parts (which rules out UK dealers), you'll be hard pressed.

If your car is within the 3 year BMW UK warranty, your dealer will be more than happy to do repairs for you under warranty as long as the modifications are not too radical. My dealer actually said to me they will consider everything except nitrous. If they can't do it under warranty, they will do it under goodwill. The reason is this, dealers claim from BMW UK any warranty work they carried out. Parts are supplied by BMW UK and labour is also paid for. So either way, they make on labour charges. It's a win-win situation for the dealers. Make some money, big brother to foot the bill, customers happy, more business in the future. Any dealer who refuses work is blatantly short sighted. They will tell you otherwise when you enquire in attempt to make you pay more to buy 'warrantied' stuffs from them. Like everything in life, situations change and everything is negotiable. The only time when dealers will turn down a warranty claim on a modified car is when the original 3 year BMW warranty is up, and the remainder of the reweable warranty is supported by the dealer itself. Then they will go all the way out to reject a claim because they will be paying out of their own pocket. ;)

Nick, dont know if you and the boys know but if you get your BMW service done at a BMW specialist,NOT a main Dealer you still have your Warranty, they dont like to let this out the bag so to speak, but its true i phone up BMW uk and they told me i was right, yes the car will still be under Warranty as long as the specialist has used BMW parts. Car droped...

Not slammed but IMO just about right. I think the front will still drop a bit more after the springs have settled.

Huge thanks to Kav aka westside. What a treat to see the master at work.

Kav lowered my car and fitted side skirts to another e46 and helped with a e36 m3 mirror install. All in two hours [cool

Hi H4pry looks [cool

Are those 17 or 18 rims ?

On the pic, before the Eibach where fitted you, did you have standard springs, the gap between the front wing and the wheel looks larger than normal?

I hope to be fitting Pro-kit soon :D

Rims are 18's

The old springs were just the oem non sports variety. I know the old gap looks huge but the camber of the road in the first pics doesn't help.

That looks sweet mate, got the same prokit on my vert [ok

Now you wanna put some 7mm spacers behind those wheels and it'll look sick! Will fill the gaps perfectly!
