Give us some rough ideas to go on Tracey, 2-or-4 seats is a start but tell us if you're looking for a fast car, comfy car, whether you want to be different or you're not bothered - that kind of thing.

I can vouch for the MR2, you can save yourself a lot of money as well

oh the memoried....:p :p :p
even though it wa 16 years old it held its own against s2000/boxster/RX7/MX5 and the like.
with the budget you have you can go for one of the late models with 235BHP as standard, Mid engined/RWD for perfect balance means you can clip apex's eveytime, and then there's the grip......
..er hold on, im blabbering now....:o
in other word, you could do a lot worse.... :)

I second an RX8  Although don't think they are near the £9k mark yet though.
If you can convince Mark to let you have a Honda S2000, what a car! What an engine! :D

I was thinking of an S2k earlier when I asked 2 or 4 seats, brilliant cars, I loved mine and you can get them for low teens now if you look hard. Still a bit high though. RX8 is probably the car that would suit both your wishes best, and they're amazing cars to drive (not unlike the Z4 in many ways), but you'll be lucky to get one for even 15k nevermind under 10.
Celica GT-Four is another option. Good all-rounder with plenty of grunt and 4 seats.

£9000 will get you a Celica GT4 packing over 400BHP which will grip like a leech if you shop around. Amazing car for the money

or what about a e36 m3 i am thinking now
Juber
31-08-2006, 09:12 PM
Yes deffo go for a E36 M3 Convertible! (pref the Evo)you can get one for £9k quite easy now! :) Alot of car for £9k
Shuriken
31-08-2006, 11:33 PM
E36 M3 would be my obvious choice, but I prefer car's with a bit more substance, unlike the MX5s and such like. That's just personal preference though, partly 'cos I probably wouldn't fit in any small sports car! :o
..Recalls the Fas + MX5 = Dead leg incident at South Mimms :D..
Shuriken.
the rx8 is nice but u won't find one for much less than 13/14g
mx5 is good for what it is
am going to be selling mine v soon so let me know if your interested or just want to have a thrash in one to see what its like:D
dont go for a z3- terrible car to drive imo
what about a nissan 200sx, seriously underrated car and great value
alfa gtv is another option

I'll never forgot that :D:D , Fas :"My leg is stuck between the steering wheel and door" :D:D
I would say either the E36 M3 or the MX-5. My wife had an MX-5 1.8 sport. Absolutely excellent car. For the money it is a proper handling little go kart.

E36 M3 or GT4 out of all that have been mentioned would be the only 2 I'd seriously consider :)

Been looking at the Focus ST or Fiesta ST,as this is a compromise.I really
dont like small sports cars,I've seen to many end up in our yard resulting
in serious injuries due to the lack of prtection they offer.I know that any
car in the wrong circumstances can result in the same thing but thats the
way I see it.Anyway the Focus offers quite a bit of car for the money, its
reasonably tunable and is still practical.

Don't touch the Fiesta ST with a bargepole m8, utter bag of lard-handling crap. Focus ST may be interesting, I kinda like the look of those in a way, possibly even a Civic if you're thinking about the hot hatch route?

That's why I suggested Civic too Tracey, they're well within your budget now for 3-4 year old models. ;)

Andy, you are so right about 'em. For the money and a little bit of modding, they are phenominal. My cousin has one and we have done the suspension, full Milltek exhaust and AmD have re-mapped it. The thing is superb. And as you say, it is seriously cheap and will return ya 50mpg...
Don't go for a diesal imo type r is nicee

Nothing wrong with diesels. Just needs to be properly modded..;) :D
Tracey, the Type R is phenomenal. You won't be disappointed if you get one.
Raj theres a big diff between a bmw diesels and a skoda diesla lol bmw's are great i just dont like small car plus diesel lol

I know what ya saying, but I have to admit, my cousins is a little pocket rocket. Nearly 200bhp + a car that ways hardly anything = Seriously quick.
Each to their own though....;)
