Nah that was a Rent-a-racer. We met up about halfway round on the 1 bonkers-nutter-red-mist lap I went for and decided to have a little ancestral rivalry between us. Was really really close, and he was driving the tits off that thing through the corners (braking drift into every single bend and over the kerbs on the exits) to stay in front, although I don't know the Ring anywhere near aswell as some so I probably wasn't going as fast as say Nick would have been (especially in my lardmobile ;)). I backed off when he over-cooked it two corners in a row and I had visions of the third being the charm with an Armco barrier pinging him back onto the same piece of track as me. Not worth that, especially when I had my roof down so I looked shitloads cooler than him even in second place :D. They had a black one out aswell, not sure how much they are but they looked pretty well prepped cars.

Yeah they were old skool M'ers, overshadowed by the couple of E30 hardcore racers, overrun by the later E46 horde, but still holding their own sideways through the corners and sitting in the parc ferme with rubber ball bearings on the wheel arches from the tyres. Still, if they're looked after properly then they're just doing what they were built for. :)

:D It was driven by a friend of mine, Norm Goldrich. Do a search on this page (http://www.trackvision.net/gallery.php) for one of his videos - he races 800+ bhp GT2s (amongst others) in America and mainly participates in Endurance races.

He's been racing for years and has tremendous car control - I know it looks out of control from the outside though :D This was his 2nd trip to the ring, so he's still learning the track.

Going a bit off topic but Steve, thanks very much for the pax lap in the CSL. Just awesome mate, blew me away at the levels of grip and the braking  . Think my brakes will not survive any more tracking so performance friction it is for the car now so i can hopefully run the car over many more laps on our next visit without them turning into bananas :( .

It showed. :) I don't mean that in a derogatory way, he was obviously a skilled driver as it's not easy setting a car up into a corner like that, and he was consistently quick doing it, it was the mid-corner brake dabbing that caused the concern cos I didn't know the track that well and I didn't know if he was in the same boat or if he was just a total lunatic like the twot in the silver Seat who was ragging it over the grass and beyond the lap before. That said, it was beautiful being behind and watching him wag the back end out going in, just a shame I was having to concentrate on my driving more than his. :)

Fair play to him if he was still learning the bends he's gonna be rakingly quick after a few days doing that, I know I was carrying a lot more weight than him but he was running a line in front of me and I was driving the shit outta mine just to keep up. Was the best fun I had all day round there though, if I could have caught him at the finish I'd have shaken his hand, thoroughly enjoyed the chase. Enough waffle, gonna go play with those videos. :D

No probs Paul, glad you enjoyed it. :) I need to work on my overbraking for corners, but I prefer to play it safe and try and get a better exit speed, than carry too much speed into the corner. That's my excuse, anyway :D

Performance Friction seem to get a good write up, but I've been very happy with the APs. Apart from the way the whole front of the car jumps to the right about a foot under very heavy breaking

Trying to compress some HD footage I got from the driver training course of full laps, as soon as its done I'll post it here.

Just to add, as we're on the subject, I couldn't have been happier with my PFs if I'd tried. Not a single moment of fade, no overheating, not even the faint smell of toasty brake compound - and you've seen the state of my tyres ;). I've said it before, and I will again, they're a fantastic halfway point to a good BBK both from a financial and performance perspective.

He's a really nice guy - if the next evotechnik meet coincides with his next meet I'll be sure to introduce you and arrange a pax lap. He's out there to have fun with the car, especially as it's someone elses :D lol

DB9 for groceries and GT2 for the Nordschleife then? ;) :D

I tried to get a lap with Norm, 75% of the people at the gates seemed to be standing in line for a ride.
And the passenger (Kev) that was in didnt want to get out!
