Right, it's 12.34am and I've just decided, I'm going to officially keep my car for another year and change it XMAS, 2005. This will mean my insurance will go down, the accident which made my NCB go down the toilet will be non-declarable (over 3 years) and my 3 points will only have 8 months more to run, and also I'll be 30 which means lower insurance premiums too.
Now. I want to take my car to the "next level", but nothing dumb or ricey.
Car will be tinted in 2 weeks (finally!) - found a place locally that will do me a dark smoke which is BARELY legal ;).
ACS Type 3 is formally played out, so they will be up for sale VERY soon (PM me if you want to make me an offer), and 19's or even 20's will be the name of the game! (I have a 318, so performance isn't an issue!) I'm erring towards Hamann PG2 / PG3
Clubsport splitters are common in the ET crew, so they've formally gone and I'm awaiting delivery of my Hamann lip.
Next is custom boot install. JL audio amp and 1 10 inch sub will be ordered this week, once I have them, I'm going to build my own custom enclosure and neon the $hit outta the trunk!
This is where you guys come in. This stuff isn't big and I want to do something "off the chain" for HIN in March (it'll be amazing if ET win another trophy!). So get those ideas coming! I'll consider anything at the moment - then prioritise them.
OVer to you guys

Tints..yay!
You ride is gonna be quite pimp...am wondering what else there is to do to ur car??
U aren't talking about performance mods right?

I don't have much experience in ICE so I'll leave it to the other guys....... ;)
Fas, if you want your car to look well pimp asthetically, 19" the way to go. 20" actually look very bad. PG2s actually look bigger than PG3s, and cleaner too. They get my vote. Damn heavy though but if performance not an issue, they will look well PIMP!
Drop your car more! Eibach Pro Kit is way too mild, get yourself a set of Sportline like Digs.
I would also change all your pedals, handbrake handle etc to Hamann, then your car will look CLASS :)
Also have you thought about upgrading the entire front headlamp to the xenon units? Xenon lights add such an immense touch to a well modded car!!

Was thinking about the sportlines, but as I've already got a drop, that'll be one of the last things to do.
What do you think of these rims?
OZ Superleggera III

Or these
OZ Superturismo GT

Superleggerra 3 look good with the polished lip but only on M3 fitment. Standard fitment, no lip :(
Also, those kind of rims you need some extra beef behind them to make them really stand out, like BBKs.
The Superturismo GT is just RICE!
what about giving some fiberglassing a go for the ICE install? that would be "off the chain". As far as im guessing your not aiming for amazing sound just amazing looks right? (amazing how cars can be compared to women so easily)

all sounds good to me bro, I am sure Kav can also give you a hand for custom built boot system, he did all his crazy Alpina E36 boot install (if you remember his car from early PBMW).
I love Superleggera 3 that's one of my fav wheels! very pricy also...
Nick what you saying about BBK with OZ rims...thought ACS had fewer spokes? lol :p
I'll be at service as always man, just give me a shout when you are ready!
Yeah next March I'll get our stand sorted out properly...let's make plan early!

Nick what you saying about BBK with OZ rims...thought ACS had fewer spokes? lol
But the ACS Type 3s are a lot chunkier and like it or not, BBKs cannot fit behind them  ....... :p

Some food for thought there for sure.
Biggest issue I have right now are rims. I'm seriously considering BBS Ch's 19's. £1750 inc VAT and tyres from bbsdirect.co.uk
What you reckon?
Nick, you reckon you can dig out pics of a vert on CH's?
Also, does anyone know if anyone in the UK sells SSR rims? I think the SSR GT3's are hot! So wouldn't mind looking into that either.

Fas,
Are the SSR ones you are talking about, like these?

TBH I haven't seen that many verts with BBS CH, it's a motorsport rim that goes well with coupes. Why not be give them a go, they will look PHAT in 19" (make sure you get 255 rears this time).
Closest I can find.....

:( CH's no looky nicey with vert
Will phone BMWorld for RD pricing. Not going split rim as they visually take an inch off the size, same effect as a polished lip.
Keep the suggestions coming.
I really would have thought £2k on a set of rims would be plenty enough to get me something tasty. Obviously not :(

The RD2 is cheaper than the 3, but not as nice......

ok, scratch Racing Dynamics, they do look pretty poo.
ACS Type 3's are starting to look attractive again.
What you guys reckon to powdercoating them? I have a place near me that can do it for £40 / rim

Dude....we're going round and round in circles, Type 3s will always look good on a Beemer. Why not concentrate on touch ups (int bits ;) ), ICE, final touches to external body mods ;) and maybe a set of X-Drilled discs and 330 caliper/disc upgrade?
BigFas

I think you've hit the nail on the head Nick and I will 99.9% take that route.
I'll concentrate on ICE first of all :)

i will agree with nick about the xenons headlamp unit.
something you really need to add the finishing touch to your car.
xenon puts so much class to our car.
every time when i spotted a nice looking xenon coming towards or from behind, i will always try to guess whether it's a merc, beemer or audi, then once it gets closer i will take a good look to see if it has other mod on them.
especially when it's beginning to go dark early now.

Nick,
so what are the difference between the 2 kit?
was originally thinking to buy the pro kit, now that you mentioned about the sportline, i don't know which one to choose.
Fas,
Tint was also in my mod list.
so how dark is the dark smoke tint? 20-25% ( i heard that 33% is the legal limit for tints.)
what is the price region? around £200+
peppernick

The Pro Kit offers only a little bit more drop than the standard M-Tech. Sportline slams the front more but the rear is similar to the Pro Kit, hence giving the ass up look. Some feel it's more aggressive looking.
However, the coupe Sportline gives the 6-pot vert a perfect drop, as evident on Digs' car.
Rim wise ......... Bro you hve to be one of the worst when it comes to changing ur rims every five mins. Type 3s are the sh#t unless of course you are going to go all the way U.S style with powder split rim HREs or IForged $$$$ Stay away from 20" u are mad

Ali - It's all about the bling factory baby :D
Tints, £300 all in from Pentagon in Hatfield. The new laws have absolutely decimated their business and they're doing some amazing deals, that's ONLY if you go to any Pentagon apart from the one in West London where they won't budge!
I'm going to wait until the new front lip is here, then I'll see if the car can take more of a drop. The Hamann lip is lower than the clubsport splitters which means speed humps will become a nuisance. If the car can tolerate a few mm drop, then I'll go Sportline.
Rossi - the simple equation is, coupe = sportline, vert = prokit, at least, that's what I was told. Because the vert is a heavier car, it drops it slightly more than if you put the same springs on the coupe.
hmmm i know sol-ace do tints for £300 all in aswell. Their website also states the laws. www.sol-ace.co.uk (http://www.sol-ace.co.uk). Technically its illegal to have front side windows tinted :o but police dont usually say much. Most they do is ask for you to remove it within 10 days unless its REALLY dark then they tow the car i think.
As for rims i got this german dealer mag and i reckon prices are quite cheap in their but im not 100% sure ill check it out and see if my dad could bring some in since hes always going to germany. Will get back to you lot on that.

hmmm i always thought the coupe was heavier then vert becos the vert is softtop ( unless it's hard top).
it seems to me that more people are putting prokit on their car rather then sportline on coupe.
i suppose prokit are not as stiff as sportline?
BigFas
04-10-2004, 10:07 PM
Vert is heavier than the coupe. As the vert has no roof, there's extra steel running through the doors, rear wings and 40% additional strength in the windscreen alone. Testament to this, if you flip the vert, the windscreen is (allegedly) guaranteed not to flex more than 8 degrees.
I think the prokit is sprung pretty similar to the sportlines but the coils are slightly wider apart? Dunno, may be talking outta my butt here

Sportlines are more progressive wound than the Pro-Kit.

RD rims "look poo"???? Are you mad??
http://hobbystage.net/bmw/marlon/1048643173-001873.jpg
That 'vert is teeezight!
And ive said it before, and ill say it again.... you want pimp. You aint bothered about performance. You want recognition and awards.
Answer: Hydraulics baby.
Maximum droppage, maximum pimpin'. You can put that sh1t on da flooorr!! And then whack it up at a practical height for the rest of the time.
Wide arch kit with 20" RDs (splitties wont look so small in 20" ;) ) and you're pimping twenny fo' seven. Flick the switch and the rims are tucked sweetly inside the arches..... Daymn, that'd be sweet.

LOL
cheers James :D Hydraulics. Man, who'da thought ;)
Decided. ICE'ing out the whip first of all. Getting rid of the Infinity Basslink and whacking in a JL Audio w7 sub (maybe 2 x 8) and a JL Audio 500/1 or 300/4 amp.
Is Hydraulics the same as air suspension???
Thats another thought if were talking all show and no go.
Personally not my cup of tea but would be pretty phat on a BM.
If this ride height is just for show i.e. display, why not just jack the suspension and have her sitting on her ass, jap import show trick until you have to roll again.
Will be interesting to see how low you can get with the new splitter.
Yo BF i know this thread is kinda over but i came across this vert in e46fanatics
