a few mods to the CSL - who thought "brakes" could be so "exhaust"ing"

basically you lot modding your cars crazy has made me get up and do something ! ! [ok :D

I got my R32 on Friday it was planned to take of the milage im clocking up on my CSL( 15,000 since last November ! ! ) ! and well after todays mods, i might have no need for it as im addicted to the CSL all over again ! ! ! :p

well lets start !!

Firstly after going to Brunty for the 1st time to see Roy's STg 2 S/C a few months back, i got hooked since that day i've been to 3 trackdays in my CSL. :D

I find the car is awesome the noise, the handling, the balance that engine but a few thing really do piss me off about the car. [ok

The brakes always annoyed although they did hold up tremendously well after 3 brutal trackdays, in reality they were finished from there 1st use at Brunty i was braking like a granny, even Paul's 330i passed me under braking at Brunty when it was real bad, they would shudder, judder and do everything except stop the car. :(

and the exhaust noise, its really tame and lame and it affects the snort the car makes, i wanted it to sound beastly infact i wanted it to sound like all hell had broken loose [bounce .

So anyways i investigated into brakes and after talking to various people i decided to go for some Ap's. I got into contact with Thorney Motorsport and i went up to see his Demo CSL which had brakes, exhaust and a remap . Well to say the least i wa blown away buy the car and the folks at Thorney Motorsport, especially John Thorne. He took time out to talk and explain everything to and never forced a sale upon to me , he even advised i could do with just a pad upgrade !

Well anyways with my BBK coming i was overjoyed, then the next day for some reason i went on Klangford and listend to exhaust clips. I watched the CSL video with the full Supersprint System , which was Angus Dawes car(he's one of the 1st people to modify a CSL for hardcore track use) [ok

Once i saw the video ! i knew i had to have that system !

I phoned up Supersprint and guess what that exhaust had a Un silenced centre section [ok which they no longer sold with the LTW race exhuast due to the number of welds that have failed.

I even ran the distributor and he said that he does not sell the unsilenced section anymore Supersprint took it off the market. :(

After feeling down i remeber AJ was one of the first people to have the Supersprint system so i talked to him and he said he'd try something. I also contacted Roy !

Roy was my hero, he gave me alternatives but i really wanted the SS system, in the end he got me the Un silenced pipe and the whole system ! ! I was so so happy i got that unsilenced centre pipe as thats the thing that makes all the racket ! and a bargain price too ! ! [ok

Roy said it would come like in 3-4 weeks, It bloody arrived 4 days later ! ! [situp thank you Roy ! ! !

well anyways with the exhuast sytem , the BBK and 1 or 2 other things which Thorney would take care of, i couldn't wait for my car to be ready ! !

And well eventually today came around and i got all my crap done ! !

I'll post more pics and a write up later, but i'm tired (i've been up since yesterday 4 am !! ) im sticky (this weather is sick ! ! ), im hungry and i'm near enough deaf due to my new exhaust ! ! [ok I've been wearing my new brakes in and just basically driving around laughing my head off as too how ridiculously loud my exhaust is.

If i shut the windows and have sports mode on inside the car at 2000rpm it feels like you head is going to pop, your ears start twitching ! its fliipping hilarious ! ! I can't hear any bass ! ! Also i can't hear the shiity stereo in my CSL anymore i might just throw it out.

well im tired guys , I wanna thank you guys for the inspiration and showing me the way ! [ok

You lot truely are an exceptional bunch of people ! and now i get the modding thing ! ! LOL

i have to thank Aj for his help, Roy for his time and effort and customer service in making me happy, John Thorne for his excellent customer service and going out of his way to make sure i was happy even if it did cost him ! !

Also Andy for the lights ( sorry for not calling you back bro flipping i totally forgot about it work was a bitch ) and Durgesh for that spare Angel eye ! [ok

Cant wait to meet some of you again and most of you for the 1st time at EVO-T fest ! !

Cheers Raja :) , yeah most people dn't go for the disc as it is the same size as the standard M3 rear disk, but i did it because it would have looked a bit odd to me.

Yeah i really do want a Vorstiener GTR hood but i dnt think i could afford it :( Unless theres a group buy ? ? ?

So basically I woke up 7ish, dumped the exhaust in the back of the car ( a pratical supercar this, the seats go down [ok ), drove up to Milton Keynes wheres Thorney Motorsport is based and basically loafed around there the whole day ! ! :eek

Theres a customer chill out area which is really cool as you can chill out, and watch you car get serviced/tuned through this massive window ! ! which i think is a really cool idea ! !

The CSL is a STG 3, ie, AP Kit all round, full Miltek system race cats, centre pipe , back box, Shrick Cams :cool: and a remap, thats right a 390/5 NA CSL, it'll be 400 within a week or 2 ! ! :eek:

Lastly i have to say the hospitality of that place was sick ! ! Krispy Kream donuts ! !, bare snacks, rides here and there and the chillout lounge + the fact you know your cars being cared for by Professionals ! !

honestly the bass at 2000rpms is nutz + 1 st day i liked everyone looking but now people are pointing and getting out mobile phones, in a bad way.

+ i've had atleast 15 people hurl abuse at me and i was doing under 30 but the things so loud ! ! i'm glad this thing is not my everyday car !

Aj must be foooking crazy driving his car around with this system.

Durgs the only 1 thing i really do miss is the induction roar and parp. Im sure there is an induction roar but

1) the exhaust is too loud to hear anything at the front.

2) the cars sounds like a wasp, not a bee anymore no what i mean ? like when you go past 3000rpms you get that "PAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP" now all i hear is exhuast drone and some loud ass engine noise !!

It doesn't feel faster but because of the noise i think its a placebo effect, although at the redline it does feel like its lunging forward harder.

No dyno so i dnt know :( , but im thinking of getting a re-map.

However all in all the noise is exactly what i wanted for trackdays and countrylanes, just wish i could still have that induction noise.

As an everyday car, Durgs i dnt know if i could live with it, im still in the excitement phase and im thinking its too loud ! ! so god knows what i think its like when the excitement wears off !

Last Durgesh i can't hear my CD player, the exhaust is so loud that the CD player in my car is redundant :( and thats even below 2000rpm ! !

Not trying to put you off, just making sure you know everything ! ! ! no one told me it was this loud ! ! ! LOL

Unfortunately this is the Achilles heel of the SS system - that awful drone you get. I have the same setup Raj but use the stock mid-pipes with OEM resonator in place, it does nullify somewhat, but I don’t think it sounds as good as OEM under 3000RPM. Give the exhaust some time to break it though.... Car looks great with the 80mm tips though [cool

well thats the thing the limitK tracks is 98 Db, the Exhuast itself is 98db, so when the induction roar chimes in it'll be illegal, so when you go past the sensors or the check just don't rev the car ! !

Your right i'll give it some time ! I've left the CSL at the bunglow and until Monday im just gonna be driving the Clio and the R32.

i'm now looking into turning my E36 M3 into a full on race car when i get some money .

Durgesh mate...I can hear u coming anyway when u hit one end of the high street and I am sitting at the other! hear u roar past yesterday about a minute before i actually saw u...if u get this exhaust...I might have to invest in some ear plugs!!!!

Let me know if its as loud or louder than hashim's gruppe m when u hear it! Am qutie intrigued!
