When da engine is idle there's strange ticking sound......cuming frm the engine. the service is due for another 2300 miles.

Shuld i b worried?

its louder wen it cold....after half hr drive...can only hear it wen the bonnet it open

hmmm hope it covered by warrenty...but it sound sumting like but only 1 of the symptoms.

Power loss near stall from idle upon gentle accelerator depression

starting to get worried now...

Its probably just tappets or injectors i would say its nothing to worry about.

Nope i don't think its anything bad , it will probably clear up with an oil service. If its tappets there is not much you can do as i believe they are hydraulic on BMW's you could try some injector cleaner see if that helps but honestly i would not worry about it...

If you're seriously fretting dude then run it into the dealer for 2 mins and just ask one of the greasers to stick their head under the bonnet and listen. They'll either tell you it needs looking at or they'll tell you to chill and not worry. If they tell you to leave it and it's something bad later then you can always point the finger! Just make sure to try and get a guy from the workshop to listen to it, not Frank from the parts desk or whoever else they may try and fob you off with.. You drive a BMW, you pay for a premium car, so demand 2 minutes of a mechanic's time for your hard-earned wedge!

It's the noise from the tappets when it nears the time for an oil change. It will get better after the service, but the tappet noise is characteristic of the M54 3.0L. No worries.

just an idea, have you checked the oil level? might need topping up? :confused:
