Hi

Any one know if those additives such as Power Boost Spray, Petrol Nitrox etc. actually do any good, ie. the ones you put in your petrol before filling up etc.

Cheers
Kris

yep, they can be of benefit, if the ecu is setup to utilise them fully, ie ecu remapped.

Most modern ecu's nowadays have a certain amount of "learning", to detect the RON level of the petrol being used, amount of air being fed into etc, they then tend to self-adjust the optimum mixture.... Over time, it gets a "fixed" setup and uses it regardless of if you actually go and put in say 98ron optimax or something. Its better to reset the ecu (disconnect battery for 30mins or so) and then go fill a good tank of optimax up and go for a long mixed drive (of hard driving :D ) motorways, a-roads etc.. the ecu should start to learn...

mind you, if you stuck in the middle of nowhere, and only got the option to take a supermarket's watered down stuff, sticking a bottle of octane booster will defo help too!
