Hi Everyone, I have been working on installing the chat software on to our forum.

I nearly messed the whole thing up, luckly... I just managed to get it up and running again. I am going to back it up, and then attempt again later.

Thought I would tell you guys, just in case you were wondering what all this "Chat" stuff was around the forum.

If anyone finds anything that is not working like it did before today, please tell me.

I know that's not working.. that's what I am working on.

I was talking more about other old forum area's that were working before and might not be working now, because of the changes in code that I have made.

One of our members kinldy found a source for me.

I see where you are coming from... however going to be very hard to control that. Kinda the reason I did not want to do it in the first place.

But everyone please when this thing is up, please if its good info, please create a post.

im sure every1 who is a member at the moment will appreciate u have 2 create a post its prob new members that will be a pain but u can just have 1 of those warning txts when they sign into the chat and im sure other members will keep ppl in check.

are u going 2 be breaking down the threads at all? i dunno if any1 has said it before and uve decided not 2 but the forum seems 2 be getting more and more members every week.. would be cool if it was broken down like e46 fanatics with suspension, brakes, engine , body etc

I think everyone just has to be reasonable about it, if theres somin useful, then you stick it in a post. Idle banter can just be left..

If the chat software logs the chat then some kind of log viewer might be useful so people can review whats been said and still read up on useful comments that have been said. If it does and its .txt I'm sure some kind of script could easily parse it and make it legible to people.

Either way it should be good :)

i think it would just be cooler if someone (mainly the person who asked the question) posted up what they learnt if its useful :p. That way it would be alot simpler. The chat would be totally pointless if you couldnt ask questions lol.

invisi i dont personally reckon we need to break the forum down. There not enough posts yet to make it worthwhile. The search function works fine for now :D.

yeah cool afif was just checking cause there was no chat module about and it didnt look like there would be 1 anytime soon until i asked for 1 lol

so i was just being selfish and checking 2 see if we could break things down hopefully there will be a need soon, means we can actually look for what we need 2 kno without scrolling thro millions of pages of forum like i did as a new member a wee while ago and plus it stops ppl from doing repsots.

not every1 has been here from the begining and not every1 will read everything thats been posted since the start of evotechnik so there are bound 2 be more reposts on the way. what im trying 2 say even if there is little in the break down its more for newbies and it will get bigger if its there 2 get bigger and wont be such a massive job when u decide there is a need (like trolling thro all the forum catogorising everything).

i dont any of what i just typed is gunna make sense 2 any1 and now i just sound moany (which im not...) just wanna help evotechnik and give some member feed back.

Reposts by people who avoid the search button at all costs will just get linked by the guys who remember the old post ;). I get where your coming from tho but lets get a few hundred members who actually post before we start being more specific [hmm [jam.

Yes, I agree wtih Afif on this one.

At the start, there was only one section, this has already grown into quite a few, and I will seprate it out more once we get a lot more members. Have you seen how many members e46fan has!!!

EvoTechnik is never going to be what e46fan is, however I would love to see it as the main BMW UK Mod forum.

well durg if u dont mind i'm gunna be doing my part for evotechnik in scotland cause i dont wanna see this site the biggest bmw mod site for uk aswell,
so im gunna make up a few cards [writesmil and stick them 2 modded bimmers i see.

I have no problem with anyone advertising the site, and forum. The more users the better.

However please be careful how you advertise, the central part of EvoTechnik is the "Crew", which at present is only 9 members. That is at the end of the day how this whole thing/forum started. I don't want ramdom people anywhere in the world claiming to be part of the ET Crew.

The difference between EvoTechnik and other groups such as EuroP etc, is that we also run a forum, and have EvoTechnik forum members, ie you lot. However these are two different things.

If you do make cards to promote, just run a copy by me, before they go into mass production.

no probs durg i wasnt gunna mention the evotechnik team in the card just the forum summit simple like the banner on the top of the card some slogun half way down then the link at the bottom .

dunno what the slogun should be tho :confused: obviously summit 2 do with being a bimmer modder.
