I just realised that my right handside rear squeaks when I bounce the rear right trunk, but not on left. There is no visible sign of suspension leak/spring damage and I can't feel anything wrong when driving either. I'm getting paranoid that this is a sign of rear subframe damage...although I hear that this is a common problem, I'm not entirely sure of typical symptoms relating to subframe damage....or...could this be a simple suspension fail? Can someone define typical symptoms of rear subframe damage? Any advice will be much appreciated:)

Thanks Fas, I'll have a good look again. Also someone suggested that it could be my parking brake squeaking. Anyone heard of that one before? If so, can anyone suggest a remedial action for this?

Park on a flat surface, release the handbrake and do the same test. No squeak, then it could be a possibility, if there IS a squak then it's something else.

it could just be a dry upper rear top mount TBH i wouldn't have aheart attack but to be sure take it up on a ramp and check the sub frame bushes are u getting any banging when under load (oooooerrrrrrrrrr)

Im having problems with my handbrake at the moment and this has resulted in a squeal sometimes when driving from cold. Tends to fade out after a couple of pulls on the lever whilst moving and stamping on the brakes.

Apparently to cure the parking brake squeak, I will have to remove rear rotors, clean&lubricate all parking brake pivot points and adjustors. Anyone done this before? never done it myself so I'll research more. I may do it all at once when I get the courage to DIY Goodridge lines:)

when mum crashed the car i was getting this squeak when i went over bumps down one side. After the bodyshop people sorted the damage the squeak went. I was convinced it was the suspension but was obviously wrong [hmm.

Kav did u check my frames? Im to scared to look . Did i mention i have a water leak [hmm. Owning a car has a shit load of hassle but that drift around a roundabout the other nite made it all worth it .

Ok i doubt that helped but just my pennies worth [jam.

Process of elimination.....just checked the handbrake and concluded that this is making the squeak. since it's not the suspension, I'm going to leave it until I do more work in this area. Fas, good thing you advised to test the handbrake 'on a flat ground' Phew :)

I too had my rear passenger side squeek when i pushed down the rear wing. The car had just has done 5K miles and less than six months old, took it to the dealer and got it fixed under warrenty. It turned out being the parking brake. I also found that if I parked on a hill and applied the handbrake the car rolled back a few inches. Since the warrenty work been carried out the role back is now much less ?
