Does anyone know if its possible to carry out the mods to face lift the 2001 e46? I know the wings and lights obviously have to be changed but are they a straight swap and what else needs to be changed. Thanks

The front grills are different.

Yup the grilles are different so you'd want a new bonnet, and unless I'm mistaken the boot is slightly different around the handle area too, so for a 100% job you'd want one of those aswell if they are.

isnt the bodywork different to accommodate the lights?

I think the overall look would be enhanced if it had the face-lift and would also make it more desirable to future buyers. If there is no structural bodywork changes to be done the cost of the conversion shouldn’t be too expensive but if I have to include a new bonnet that would change things. [hmm

The lights are always on ebay so that wouldn’t be a problem. The wings and the plastic underneath the lights could be obtained from breakers. I might go to BMW today and see how much they charge for new panels.

Thanks for the info it’s really helped any further advice on the bonnet would be great. Oh yeah, its a 2001 330CI Sports Conv so the rear isnt an issue except the LEDS and that a whole other story.

You're right it will nehance the over all look of your car but I doubt very much you will get much back when you come to sell it? If anything people are likely to be suspicious as to how and why a 2001 has teh 2003 facelift panels?? has it been in a prang?

I wouldn't bother personally, would be interesting to know how much it works out at though.

it'll enhance the overall looks (although I prefer prefacelift models myself) but would definitely put future buyers off as they'd think the car is a weld n shut [bang wouldn't do it but hey it's your car do what pleases you that's the modding spirit [cool
