Been thinking about how easy would it be to put a blank passenger side handle on the drivers side (therefore removing the lock!) My car has central locking so that wouldnt be a problem!!!
Anybody got any ideas what would be involved, would it be difficult? [hmm
As an alternative i saw these but wasnt sure on the chrome Click!! (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4646514187&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)
What you all think?

I’ve done this on my saloon and did some research into this. I don’t think u can use the RHD passenger side one. Instead, u need to get a passenger side cover from a LHD model. dealer has them for 5 or 6 quid each. I also don’t think u remove the lock mechanism as u just replace the top cover. May not be the same on the coupe but I’m pretty sure it’s the same deal. And yes, this is very easy to do.

This has been done a few times over on e46 fanatics. Do a search and i'm sure you will find a detailed guide :D

we have in stock the plastic cover without keyhole for the handle ...this is all you need , thus keeping the lock functional for emergencies :)

^^is that for the E36?
This is a very simple mod. I did this on my 328. As has been suggested just get the passenger side cover from a LHD car from the dealer (it will be about £6). This will come with the cover and the metal blanking behind it as one unit. Just get it sprayed (or do it yourself), then loosen the bolt from behind the rubber cover on the inside edge of the door. The lock will just pull out. Push the new cover in and tighten the bolt.
