Hello All,

Ive come over (but not left!) from e36coupe.com after selling my 318tds e36 [crackmeup . I had it for 5 years and it was great, but after hitting 200k, it had to go.... [jam

So, im now in the market for a ci.

I am going to see this one this evening, what do you guys think? Is it worth the price of £13,500?

Click Here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4523934164&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT)

Also - are there any pointers for when i go see it? Anything i can use to haggle the price down

Ive rang BMW customer service and it all adds up. Was a bit miffed why it had no center arm rest, then learnt it wasnt standard until the facelift e46.

Thanks alot

Jamie

Parkers/Glass say it should be 18k for with 20k miles, but Parkers/Glass are definitely overpriced in comparison with the 'real world'. What I usually do is to phone up 3 or 4 traders and ask them how much they'll buy it from you (pretend u have the car and want him to buy it off u). they usually will give u the trade in price that's pretty average amongst them. compare these prices against what the eBay seller is offering and judge it for youself. the seller has probabaly tried to offload the car via traders previously and knows what he can get from them so as long as u know the benchmark u should be able to judge if 13.5k is a good price. I'm a Scot at heart so I have a tight wallet but can save u some money:)
p.s. shame it's not got bixenons:)

13500 would be a good buy for that.

I doubt very much he would let it go for that? which is why he is having to relist it, cos he didn't get the price he wanted.

Good Luck

Yeah that'll never sell for 14k. If you can get him to part with it for anywhere close to that you'll have got yourself a bargain IMO. For your sake, good luck and finegrs crossed. ;)

Ive been offered it for 13.5k from him, subject to viewing.

However, he said it had FULLBMWSH (59k on clock) with all paperwork. So i rang dealers it had been to, they said it had only EVER been to ANY bmw garage 2 times in its life - so erm - summat fishey goin on there.

Anyhow - ive seen 2 virtually identical 2002 51 plate 318ci's, one silver and one steel grey (pics of steel grey coupes would be nice). Both are pretty basic, but have the 17" oem rims. the silver one is the most basic, nothing optional at all (apart from rims). steel grey one has center arm rest, 6 disc changer and silver inside trim.

the silver on is goin for 8995 with 89k miles full Bm history. Other is @ auction but has 55k and full history.

What you guys reckon?

he says FBMWSH, you can only track 2. hundreds of people looked at his auction in the last listing at 14K asking price. no one bought it then. why??? he has another car for sale at the mo, is he a trader? maybe a sign to walk away?

Take you time, for the E46 it's a buyer's marker out there. Have a look in Top Marques, sellers on there are usually more genuine and have better cars.

Yea, he was a trader - im not interested in it anymore. The 318ci (silver 1) is like a whole 5k cheaper and for that i only get a) bigger engine b) nicer seats c) sports kit

Ive decided to get a smaller engined car, save the cash and sell it in a year or 2 for something like a 325ci when they ar around the 10k mark...

I think that's a wise choice. There's no such thing as a free lunch and that deal was starting to look a little green at the gills. Like Nick says, you're in the driving seat (no pun intended ;)), so take your time and get one that you know is sound. Fas has shown what you can do with a 318, it's not all about engine size, if that one looks good then roll with it, it's a nice price even at 89k.

hehe - daaamm - nearly was a spanner in the works there. But its black - and i dont want a black car again - could never keep it clean - plus the stone chips!! Arrrgh

The steel gray e46 went for 10.7k @ auction, so the silver on is lookin like a proper bargain. Im gonna hopefully see it on sat and cut a deal...

Oh yea - what am i looking @ for a center arm rest and cd autochanger?
