retrofitting comand in an slk

hey guys

my older sis is going to be taking my 325ci so i got to buy a new car

so ive decieded on a full spec slk350. black/black amg etc
the dealers got one but without comand, but says he will fit it in within the price i want. will it be exactly the same as factory?

i would have thought so, however i dont think the salesman you are dealing with knows exactly how much work is involved in retro fitting the command in the car. if i remember correctly the main audio wiring harness has to be changed and most of the car has to come apart for that. i would see how he gets on and then when you go to pick up the car, go over every interior panel with a fine tooth comb to make sure they have been fitted properly.

Good choice. The AMG kit makes such a visual difference to the new SLK. A friend of mine has command retrofit to his CLK320 and trust me, the BMW nav retrofit is a walk in the park compared to the Merc. However, if your dealer is willing to undertake the task at no extra cost, by all means, the car will be under warranty anyway. Any problem just dump it back at them, if you can put up with the incovenience. However, they can also get it spot on, then it's a great deal for an awesome car. Good luck.

Nick- thanks, will hopefully be all good. without the AMG, it looks so different- much more agressive. would go for red leather but its hard to find and maybe a bit too showy

thanks but no. im getting my car from bishops stortford as well. but its got more spec, older with black leather and for over £7k less.

that ex demo is seriously over priced, nearly new slk55s are £46k

as for the leather choice red is nice but quite in your face, my dad originally wanted pure red, but as nick said the black tones it down nicely
