Team,

After having a set of Teddys fine CCFL's sitting at home doing nothing i decided to have a go last night in putting them in.

I had done a little research on the op checking out all the previous post regarding the tap trick and other peoples experience all of which we very helpful.

Taking the car apart was a piece of cake considering the missions sometimes taken with the old e36 in the past.

No real thinking was needed until it came to the placement of the supplied CCFLs power box ( if thats what its called ) and the wires here there and everywhere.

I could get into more detail but really i think youve all read about these things enough before.

One thing that i did want to check was the sealing of the wires and power box from the weather.

I noticed that the power box (1,4) has to breath so i wasnt going to wrap that up in tap?? The power box is secured by double sided foam tap to some part of the structure.

I havent as yet wrapped up the white wires from the CCFLs to the power box either (3), is this need ??

I have wrapped up the wires into the side bulb (2)

Congats joining the CCFL club Ali [cool

The they look great at least one side, :D
As to the wiring, I taped the wires as in the first pic (3) a but further say 2 -3 cm more as to make sure that there is no possible chance of water geting into the rear headlight unit. I haven't taped up the whole CCFL wiring as per pic

I stuck the power brick under the metal crossbeam so you can not see it with double sided tape, you can just see it in the pic to the left of the white wires (upper right hand side of the pic).

Ray: Cheers mate, i had a set of what i call 1st generation angels in my e36, i was blown away with how easy these were to fit and how bright they are (this might have something to do with the tap trick?) Mega Impressed and trust me i cant wait to get the other side done.

Estoril: I hear you mate ill nail it tonight with more tap..

Cheers all round.

I pretty much did the same as Estoril did Ali. Don't need to go overboard with the taping if you keep the worst of it under cover. As long as you tape up the sidelight holes then you should be fine - had no water problems at all with mine.

great job al, you can just hide the box under the slam panel that is a perfect space for hiding the box. Everything else is fine because inside the engine bay it's all pretty much weather proof. Have you ever seen a pool of water inside the engine bay whenever you lift up ur bonnet? ;)
