Need help: ACS Mirrors

Gents, the saga continues.

To cut a long story short, dealer sorted out my mirrors and actually made a decent job of it.

However, after the re-installation there is one small problem. When using the reverse mirror tilt function, when you pop it out of reverse, instead of the mirror glass returning to the previous position, it tries to point "in towards the car".

The mirrors have been off again, connections checked, wiring checked but no obvious signs.

Has anyone come across this before?

BMW have done one of their "technical searches" and haven't yet come up with anything from BMW or any of the dealerships.

Any ideas appreciated.

Sorry I can help as I do not have the reverse mirror tilt function on my car, or at least not noticed it. Does it only work mirrors that have auto tilt feature., BigFas has got ACS mirrors and his previous mirrors had auto tilt I believe.

My ACS do have autotilt but I've not had this problem. sounds to me like the memory setting is getting screwed. The motors obviously work but when you pop it from reverse into neutral / any gear ,it's not reverting back to its preset position.

how do you re-adjust, do you have to manually adjust the mirror back to its required position? Or do you press the memory button?

My reckoning is that it's a glitch with the preset memory function

I'd go along with that Fas, I don't see what else it can be if the wiring and connections all check out. Logic would imply that the fact that the mirror moves means it's got the gear sensing right, but the fact that it moves the wrong way means it hasn't remembered where it was before. Have the dealer got another one that they can swap it out for and see if it does the same? Would narrow the problem down a little and give you a better chance of solving it..

you sure the left motor is not installed into the right side mirror and the left motor into the right side mirror?
i don't know but just a thought.
