I've absolutely no experiance with changing suspension components so would appreciate advice.

1. Are there any kits that lower the car AND make it more comfortable ? Or keep it just as comfortable as stock ?

2. Do I need to buy springs AND shocks ?

3. My car is '99, with 45k, so are any of my stock suspension components that are likely to need replacing in any event ?

4. What is a rough cost for labour for installing suspension parts ?

I have standard type 44 17" BMW alloys.

Im looking for a lower look without sacrificing any comfort if at all possible.

thanks

Eibach pro kit springs will give the desired drop and keep the ride as good or sometimes (as in my case) improv it. Costs approx £150 for the four springs and then approx £150 for fitting depending on where you go.

Why do you say it improved the ride in your case, were the old springs worn ?

And how come you didnt get/need shocks ?

Don't forget to factor in for 4 Wheel Alignment aswell as lowering the car will alter the geometery

Dirty Black if mystic did not replace his shocks it maybe because they were in good condition and no need to replace, plus also keep some of the ride quality also may improve ride as the car feels more stable on the road and would improve those cornering moments.

Although it is advisable to use shortened / sports shocks when lowering a car as lowering without upgrading the shocks will shorten the life of the standard items.

If you are lowering i would also take the opurtunity to change the rear shock mounts for some Rogue Engineering items, will save you replacing them later on.

The Eibach Pro Kit is what I have just taken delivery of and will be getting fitted in the next few weeks. :D

Cheers

Roughly 30F/25R in practice on yours.

The Eibachs are better springs than the stock items, hence you get a better ride on them. Most people don't replace the shocks unless they're worn, Daniel's got most of your answers pretty sewn up there though.

At 45k m8 as well changed the shocks. save u time and bit of money later on. (and hassle)
Bilstien and Koni shocks are very good.

And if u havnt done yet. Get powerflex bushes and RE rear shocks mounts.
