hi guys

can anyone recommend some locking wheel nuts?? :)

i remember reading somewhere a certain brand that are very soft metal and chew up quite easy.

also should i go for 2 sets and have 2 lockers on each wheel?

cheers :D

oh and has anyone kept the oem locking nuts to use with the aftermarket ones?

I'd recommend the Ultra Mcgard wheel locks (avail from halfords)..but make sure they are the ultra ones.. each bolt head has a swivel part, which can be hooked on by a bigger nut/boltcutters/pilers etc..

www.Beastpower.com also sells them..but be careful about import costs..

also be careful if your running spacers/bigger wheels etc, as you'll need to make sure all ya wheel bolts fit properly into the wheel hub..the length of the bolt can be different..

I got these RAD ones from Bimmian. The are doing an offer now, buy 4 sets get 1 set FOC. So you can have 5 different locknuts on each wheel ;) They are much tougher than the MacGards.

Nick, the combination on that locking key, looks very similar to the oem bmw key, which has only around 10 or so variants...

The reason I went for them is that I haven't come across anyone in the UK who has used them, or sells them. So I don't think that petty thieves would have the correct key combo. The pros can get anything off so there's really no point.

There's a group buy on the McGard Ultras at the mo via Tyresmoke.net forum. 24 quid delivered (+1 for paypal). RRP is 34.99. if interested, just email your details (including fullname, username, forum, delivery address, payment method and fitment required) to groupbuy@phatphil.com - say u are a member of 'tyresmoke.net'

I use OEM ones and Wolfrace ones I got on eBay:) Mine's only 17" anyway...Nick, your set up (5 different locks) is HARDCORE [jam never do anything in halves do u

I use McGards and the OEM ones on my wheels - shame the chrome wheel nut caps I bought don't fit over the OEM ones though :(

$40 a set, $160 for 5 sets. They will send you all in different lock sizes.

<O:p

Why don’t they offer an alternative posting ratings?

Estoril, it's $40 per 4 wheel nuts. Which is roughly £25. Postage is shocking though.

What about doing a group buy and we share the postage?

I've been speaking with some American suppliers of JL Audio as the prices are 70% cheaper than here :D . But the shipping is so expensive.

Sounds good to me are they the same locking nuts as bimmian over at JL Audio ? (I thought that JL Audio only did ICE equipment)

come to think of it, it's made in Germany but I can't find their website. does anyone know whether they supply direct, or thru a UK distributor?

I've been looking to buy some ICE gear and Andy P recommends JL Audio.

I have had a reply from Bimmian about a possible group buy.

They are saying that they believe that could arrange a group purchase directly with the factory in Germany so that he can ship the 30 sets directly to us in the UK.

They estimate that package would weight about 30 kg (1 kg per set)
<O:p
They also suggested that they would try to save you some cost on the locks as well as at the same time save shipping with the larger quantity.
<O:p
If we bought 3 sets (12 nuts) we would still need 10 members or 2 sets each (8 nuts) we would still need 15 members to go for the group purchase.:(

Does anyone know a dealer in the EU? It’s a bit strange buying them in the States but posted in Germany. But at least the currency rate could be in our favour, $-£ plus we would no pay and duty as the are being posted in the EU

What do you think guys.

Perhaps Teddy or Joe being the sole UK distributor
