Guys,

If anyone has the info, what is the BMW book labour time for fitting 4 springs? Whilst the dealership wont officially fit the springs, I'm being quoted £250 to get one of the technicians to do a cash "sidey" for me.

Good or bad value? I reckon on dealer rates that breaks back to appx. 2.75 hours (£75 per hour + VAT).

FTAOD, laser alignment not included in the price.

Cheers.

Not unless Bedford has suddenly re-spawned north of the border! Fcuk, why when you buy a reasonable car does everyone start thinking they can take the piss?

Time for Mr Angry from Edinburgh.....

it shouldnt be that hard to find someone willing to fit them, i thought £80 was a bit steep, but didnt want the muppets at kwick fit to tamper with my car ;)

£75 + vat from a BMW dealer is good value.

mine charges £140 an hour.

I think it is cheaper to get a Lawyer and take them to court.

Nu Technique, 80 quid to have springs replaced by a BMW technician (90-120min job) is VERY cheap (80 quid is not steep :D )! Tracking was NOT included right? Coopers of Cobham charges just under 100/hour...

Mark, £250 cash in hand is MUCH money, the guy is having a laugh. £250 is what BMW charge to install ACS springs. Trust me, he's not doing you any favours at all.

It's probably cheaper for you to drive down to Westside and get him to fit them for you!!!

You're not having too much luck modding your BMW in Bonnie Scotland are ya :D

emm wonder if i can get him to do service stuff and still stamp the book??? ;)

You're not bloody wrong. No one up here has got a feckin' clue what they're doing. There's a good wee group of guys (Tigger etc) on the Scottish BMW Owners club but I guess there's more of a "enthusiast" thang rather than a "modding" one.

My quest for the next six months is to recruit at least 10 new tartan members to the forum. Then we can have some more "consumer power" up here!

I mean, I can understand the whole "look mate, you fitted the turbo to your car, its your fault and we cant touch it" attitude, but fitting a set of springs? Come on, thats just plain bullshat.

Hi tigger logged on....

Me and my mate with a mini cooper S go to Freeflow (Bathgate) they just moved to new premises near harthill looks like a mini peugeot ecosse garage ( ROadchef/ BP petrol station on the M8 to glasgow) to get stuff done....That price you got from bmw is a rip off I got my ACS fitted for 130quid at Menzines whilst freeflow will do it for 80quid, but the car was going in for some warranty work so i let them do the work.

Did you go to easten, my car going in t2m to get some warranty work done on it they bloody charge 10quid for car hire now!!!!....Hope they don't kerb my wheels like last time with my MV wheels  just re-fitted my acs back on [ok

If you are interested in trying freeflow, I can give you freeflow no and the main guy to get in-touch with.

Alright Tigger, how's it goin? Yeah, cars in at Eastern at the moment getting the ACS mirrors fixed (don't ask!). I live just round the corner. I'll be picking it up between 5 to 5.30pm and would love to see the 19's on the compact.

Let me know if your up for a quick blether.

Gonna try Grassicks, Morrisons and Menzies (although I've fallen out with them before!) and see what they can do.
