I noticed AntMan and Teddy talking about this in a thread in the SSDD section, but I didn't want to de-rail that so I thought I'd ask here.. ;)

Is this an issue for people? I phoned my dealer right before I fitted mine, the guy on the front desk said "Um, dunno, let me go and get the head tech", and then came back and said "he says yeah, fit one, they're sweet". Now, I've not been to service the car since I put it on, so I'm now wondering if he was being a bit casual and I need to swap my air-box back in before I go, or if I've just got lucky with an understanding dealer.

Anyone had any negative experience of taking a motor in with one fitted?

I never had any probs with my e36 at its CAI, as long as i handed over the cash they didnt care. With the e46 well im much like yourself i havent had it in yet...not really to worried myself :)

it shouldn't be an issue mate, and especially if youre friendly with your dealer :) I only took it off because the car was not in for a normal service, it was in for the special engine recall for E46 M3, they had to rip the engine apart and I didn't want them to have any excuses not repairing any engine damage caused by the design flaw in the original engine shell bearing thingy. I'll let you know on Tuesday. May car is going in for an Inspection 1 and I'm not removing my intake. If anything, it'll reduce the cost of the service as they don't have an air filter to replace and as such can't charge you for a part they can't fit ;)

My old car went in for Inspection 2 with the S/C on. Scotthall did the service but nobody dare take it out for a test run.

Cool, had a sudden attack of paranoia was all! :) I'm sure it'll be ok, and yeah like Fas says it may even be grounds for negotiating a discount! :p

Stupid question, but how do you remove the GruppeM, need to clean mine big time!!

I tried to remove it this morning, undone the two bolts holding the heatshield in place in the engine, loosen the two large jubuliee clips, but can seem to take the GruppeM out?? What am I doing wrong?? [bang
