Hi Guys, [hiya
Just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Dan.
I've been watching the forum for a while and recently picked up my first BMW a nice silver 330i Sport.
I would love to make it as stunning as the examples on here and having already aquired some mods from Teddy and Evil Beemer I think it's on its way.
I also purchased an Infinity Basslink to go with the Dension Ice>Link. The problem I have is my 330 doesn't have a seperate amp in the trunk as the instructions state (think this is just US models, might be wrong) so I don't know where to run the Audio inputs, anyone running a BassLink and can give me some pointers. Rather not run it off the head unit but will do if no alternative.
Cheers,
Dan

Hello mate im a major ICE fan and have just finished my M3 cab boot install. The factory amp should be located on the rear n/s of the car boot behind the carpet. But possibly as i found that in the cabs the amp is located in the rear n/s quater panel of the car... Any probs just let me no... :D

Cheers for the replys guys.
Took out the trim today and could only find the CD Changer on the left and the battery on the right.
Been serching all the forums and the amp seems to be an option that is not on my car (saloon p/n 65 12 8 368 230) . :(
Looks like I'm going to have to remove the rear speakers and splice a connection from them.

Yep....I love my pocket rocket & green is the best colour for a Ninja. [bow
Think N/S and O/S is to do with the position of the curb (may be wrong) so N/S is passenger side and O/S is Drivers.
Off to do my pedals, clubsport splitters and BassLink in the cold.....Nice!

Yagga, any pics of your install? I'm about to embark on an ICE install for my vert and am looking for all the inspiration :) I've already got 2 JL Audio 10inch subs, a custom boot enclosure and am just needing an amp. Waiting until February to get that as I've got some money coming to me so as soon as that's in, I'll either be getting an Alpine MRD501 or the JL Audio 500/1.

Seems like a nice, clean install, nice one. My boot install will be similar with the 2 10's under the roof stowage area.
I am still thinking about where to mount the amp, I like the idea of a false floor like what you have, but I also like where you have mounted the equaliser. Where are you based? Any chance of getting a template of the equaliser mount?

No probs mate im based near croydon surrey. i was scratchin my head for ages to find space for everything. but the EQ template took several attempts in mdf. But wheneva ur ready ive got a few laying around in my garage. if anything use the spare wheel well 2 put some units in aswell, thats where i mounted my power cap and distribution blocks etc. But you will luv the Jl's. This is my 5th install in this car in under a year and ive tried most of the major brands and this and the jl one has been the best all round. But i may change it to 3" JL w3 subs just to be different... [crackmeup

That MDF template helped the most then I made a fresh single sheet Mount and top which is the one that is carpeted... [read

Bloody hell! What makes you change so often and you don't have an amp kicking around that I can buy off you do you? ;)
sweeeeeeeet!. Im gathering ideas aswell :D. Plan to do a custom install (most probably going with two 8 inch Diamond subs) probably during the easter holidays. Going to try and get hold of the subs / fiberglass / mdf / tools / bodyfiller next month to prepare for it. I also need an amp but fas beat me to it :p. If youve got one he dont need give me a bell [ok. I need to sort out a set of components aswell but not really sure about those yet unless i get a good deal.

Whassup people this is Andy , Flex's mate...the ICE man....The 330 doesnt have a seperate amp...so in this case you would have to go to the head unit and pick up SPEAKER LEVEL OUTPUTS and REMOTE turn on feed....and run this to the bak of the Infinity Bass link.......
Hope this helps , holla at me if u want more info

Digressing slightly
Andy, I've got the HK option in mine and as far as I'm aware it does have a separate amp, but I'm yet to find it, but that's no big deal.
Going back to last summer, I attempted to get an install done by a local company "Ice World" who gave me a good deal on the components and they would do an install for me. Anyway, long story short, the install was junk and after decking the owner got my money back. I kept the wiring in and it's exactly how you've described above. I've got wires running from my head unit with speaker level inputs and a remote turn on feed which is running into my Basslink and works absolutely fine.
I'm planning on using exactly the same wiring setup for the new install which is why the hunt for a good amp which takes a high level input is taking a while. I guess my question is, is it going to be ok using the existing wiring that's already there? OR is there a better way? If there is, what does it entail. I'm after something EXTREMELY straighforward hence if there's no real detriment to using the existing wiring, I'll continue down this path. I've no plans to change the head unit either
Dan welcome to the mad house mate, hope the install goes well hahaha looks like a sh*t storm of ice installs on the horizon for everyone.

Yeah Fas you can use the exsisting wiring as you need to get hold of the source signal b4 it goes into the factory amp for any decent sound. But also if you dont mind me asking why do u want to use Speaker levels as your input? just get a Line level to rca converter its like £10 for a decent one then you can use a any amp and it sounds 10x better with more control over your system. But if you want to find your factory amp its behind the boot changer carpet to your right (If you have the Navi system that box will only be a brain/pre amp for the monitor and the main amp would be behind the n/s rear quater panel to the left of the rear speaker...
Ps i change my ice often cos ive neva been happy with the sound. Ive been like that with all of my cars. But i let a friend here mine today and he said it sounds spot on and thats without the EQ being set up yet.
And unfortunately i have just sold an amp and 15" sub and an identical unused set of Directed studio components on ebay...

Cheers Ali, all went well in the end, removed the rear speakers and spliced the connection to the BassLink. Looks good as all the cables are hidden.
Will do for now uptill I get bored and chuck my old setup in there.
Well done mate get some pics up when sorted
