how 2 unlock pioneer avic 5700

My mate bought a pioneer 5700 from the USA, it works perfect apart from playing uk dvd from the local video shop.
It will play vcd, copied dvd's and the rest but not original dvd from uk.
Is there anyway to unlock it to make it region free etc.
Any help much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, does the FM function work on the US models? I've heard that they work on different units or something and you need an FM Expander to get it working.

What are you saying you need to make it any region?

I just know that in the UK, the FM chunks go up in o.5 incremements. I.e. 98.1 / 98.15 / 98.2 etc. In the US, I think it goes up by 0.3's which means you can't get things like Kiss 100 (100.FM) or Capital (95.8 FM) and stuff like that. But I don't know anyone with a US unit in the UK and so don't know if it's true

the DVD doesn't work because all Europe(UK included) DVDs are Region 2 DVDs , the US is Region one , you need to have multi system/region DVD player to play all region systems , its a PAL and NTSC kind of thing
