I've been following your progress fella and I'm absolutely gobsmacked. the quality of your car is amazing. And the euro look is DEFINITELY under represented in the UK so even though it's been a while, it's an awesome fresh look for the UK scene. You should be justifiably proud of what you've created.
And for what it's worth. Your car bra idea rocks ;)

Ok so now those that have read my website are uptodate with how the car looks I thought I post todays progress to keep you all up todate :)
23/4 - this todays progress...
FInal managed to get a couple hours in on the car, would love to have done more but having to do other things recently has dampened the progress on the car :(
Got the new glovebox trimmed and shaped to the new opening 8) plenty of workwas needed but was well worth it I reckon :P 8) 8) (I've done abit of fettling to the dash as you can see, just sharpened up the closing edge against the glovebox door 8))

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02621.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02624.jpg
Once that was all done I finally got around to stripping the carpet out  what a job!!!! :x the gas pedal took abit of head stratching lol. I've also read that many people cut the carpet around the heater to ease getting it out... somehow I got mine out in one peice :P 8) the dash brace was unbolted and I was able to manouver (s/p) the carpet out. This carpet will not be going back in!!! ;)
All removable sound deadening was removed in preparation for 36 sq ft of Second Skin Damplifier Pro 8) 8) 8)

30/4/06 CarPC!!!!!
Yeah I know its really ICE related but instead of having making another thread I thought I'd put in in here :D
In a nut shelll its the basis of my Carputer!! 8) the thread about 'does a show car need tv's' got me thinking, I honestly wasn't really thinking about putting tv's into the car but as always it got me thinking ... how can I go one step further.....and a car pc seemed the obvious step 8) :P
Initial plan was to buy all the various components bit by bit untill I stumbled across this machine on ebay :P
The spec was near enough what I was going to build! 8)
Epia M10000 Nehemiah motherboard
40gb Seagate 2.5" HD
256MB RAM (I'm will be upgrading to 512)
Panasonic Slimline Slot Loading DVD-ROM/CDRW
Morex Cubid 3677 Mini-ITX Case
An email to the seller and it turns out he had all sorts of other goodies he'd throw in!!! Cue the 7" linITX touchscreen!!!!! :P :P :P various other power adapters (240/12 very handy for gettting the software up and running whilst not in the car!!)
And just for an extra bonus the seller was going past my house this afternoon on his way to Santa Pod (fucking result!!!!)
So whats the plan then...... well it'd be too straight forward just having the pc in a box in the boot so the slot loading dvd will be fitted into the sunroof trim in the headliner and a few other trick touches... I'm going to buy another 7" screen and they'll be going in the back, I'm looking at an 8" touchscreen for the main screen up front (mounted where the h/u & main vent is) and then maybe a large screen in the boot :P
The Alpine 9831R h/u will be scrapped (already in the gf's Pug) and radio, GPS etc... will be through the car pc....the trick touches will be in the shape of surveilance cameras (1 in the front bumper, 1/2 in the cabin, and 1 in the bootlid/ boot) so when parked at shows etc I can real time record all the activity around the car :P 8)
I've probably forgotten quick afew bits but hey ho no doubt they'll come out in time :)

Right with wanted to declutter the engine bay and with the thought/planning in the back of my head for the engine conversion I decided to start with the washer bottle 8) (may as well start somewhere)
Was easy whipping it out from underneath the boot and sticking it in the boot but it really did need to be fixed down (even I'm not that ghetto!)
This is what I started with....
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02656.jpg
Due to the shape of the bottle (kinda kidney shape) it lended itself perfectly to fitting against the rear wheel well on the passenger side so a trip to my local hardware shop I picked up 3 packets of various lengths of fixing plates and started bending and twisting them to use to fix the bottle securely after a few trial fittings (and some quite trick bending if I do say so myself) I ended up with these
The fixings with the large washer went through the existing fixing hole and the second one I had to drill a hole through the locating lug inorder to bolt the plate to the bottle...
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02665.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02666.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02664.jpg
So the the plates loosely in palce time was to chuck it in the car :D :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02671.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02670.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02667.jpg
Happy as larry!! Looks pukka and holds the bottle nice and securely and it pretty much level side to side and front to back 8) 8)
Once that was in place it was time to run the new length of washer bottle hose.... I'd bought (about) 4m and tbh that was plenty, of course coming on a roll it was a nightmare to try and straighten out
Notice the OEM hose fitting 8) ;)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02679.jpg
Like I mentioned the hose wasn't playing ball and kept wanting to curl up I wanted the hose clipped in this position, it;ll be fixing in a load more spots but this is just the first..
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02673.jpg
I had these knocking around the garage :D never used them before and now seemed and ideal time there kinda like and self fixing cable tie, you drill a hole in the metal press in the tie, the legs splay out to fix it in place and then you use it just like a normal cable tie 8)
Hole drilled already ;)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02675.jpg
Hose tied and tidied up 8) 8)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02682.jpg
I've chopped the existing washer bottle loom out of the engine about 8 inches from the end so it leaves me plenty of cable to play with to extend the loom back down to the loom in the engine bay (the route of the cable will be in the inner arch along with a hole host of other wiring to declutter the bay further)
And here it is, relocated washer bottle....... :D :D :D

27th May 2006 Update time....
Been abit quiet on the postable progress front. I've been starting the bodywork and I think it'll be staying under wraps ;) ;)
Just before I get into the main progress and the reason for the post I thought I'd keep you up todate with the alarm situation... being fitted with a standard BM alarm was never going to protect the car well enough when she gets back on the road. Having no way of transporting the car to an alarm fitters I trust I'm going to install and after market alarm myself... its the rperfect time with the car being stripped to the bone...
I wont go into details on how to remove the alarm on a public forum but safe to say there was a fair amount of wire tracing and cutting to get it out of the loom... vvv just a few pictures of what was involved ;)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02704.jpg

Andy 1 - Alarm 0
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02716.jpg
ok onto the main post......
Ok I wanted to sound deaden the car a) to stop rattles etc.. from the ICE install (when ever I start that) and b) to cut out road/wind noise so basically if feels like your travelling in a 50k Benz and not a 3k e36  Super quiet is the name of the game :P
So at long last my sound deadening turned up last week and I could start on the car!!! :P its a new product to the UK made by a company called Second Skin and this particular deadening is called Damplifier Pro. Its basically the flag ship product for the company.
After loads of research into the various sound deadening company, Stinger, Brownbread etc all of which had there pros and cons and always at the end they weren't rated 'as good as Extreme' I was going to plump for a bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme but after reading Sound Deadener Showdown (http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/) and various threads on talkaudio forum this new product seemed to get getting rave reviews... with the attractive offer of 15% discount and free postage it was an offer I could refuse 8)
So I placed my order for A Bulk pack of Damplifier Pro AND a pack of Overkill (http://www.secondskinaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?pg=1&p=ps)
Damplifer Pro - Designed for hot rodders, and car audio competitors, Damplifier Pro was overbuilt to over perform in extremely harsh automotive conditions. Damplifier Pro is at least 80 mils thick and has a foil heat shield 4 mils thick for better vibration reduction and thermal insulation.
Damplifier Pro has a heat tolerance over 500 degrees and can be applied to any area of the car to prevent vibrations and rattles as well as road, engine, exhaust, and wind noise. Damplifier Pro requires no heat and very little prep work. Simply peel the paper and stick Damplifier Pro on any area of the car that needs to be acoustically or thermally controlled.
Overkill - Over Kill™ is the second step in a layered approach to total acoustical control. When applied on top of our Spectrum™ or Damplifier™ vibration dampers, this closed cell neoprene sponge filters our airborne sound waves that are able to penetrate the layers below it while reducing distortion causing reflections inside your vehicle. This is the easiest and least expensive step you can take to dramatically enhance your Damplifier™ and Spectrum™ installation.
After the pre-order to get the discount and free postage is was just over a month and a half until it all turned up..so when it did arrived I was quite happy to say the least!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02738.jpg
Heres the end result of a single bulk pack.... Roof done and the passenger/ drivers front and rear footwells. Looks like I'll be ordered another 2/3 () bulk packs to do the rear floor, doors and boot
BEFORE:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02698.jpg
AFTER:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02782.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC02781.jpg
With the roof now nicely sound deadened (Gotta be honest just a single layer of sound deadening it has made a HUGE difference to the roof... the trusted 'knock test' going from a tinny tap to a solid thud made is clear this product is the dogs and deffo a worth while part of the project!!
Now with the roof done I can finall install the sunroof again :P the cars been sunroof less for about 4 months now while I've been retrimming it and waiting for the sound deadening to arrive... I know it only a very small part putting the sunroof back in but it was very statisfying seeing the gapping whole in the roof filled

This weekends work... 11/6/07
Things are going abit slowly atm mainly due to any spare money is going in the air ride savers account :P so I thought I'd tackle a job thats cost me bugger all this weekend :P the start of relocating the battery.
Basically as you know I'm decluttering the engine bay so the battery was moved to the boot... the initial plan was just to fit it exactly like BM would have done with the 6 pots BUT I soon got thinking about the end uses of the battery it will have running off it.
Air ride, CarPC, a BIG power hungry ICE install so it got me thinking the 1 current battery (even though its an uprated one) will not be good enough for the finished car so a split charge system and second battery is the plan!!! :D :D
The split charge in itself is easy to do but the thing I did have to research was what battery I actually want to use, after a couple hours reading on reviews and opinions on the usual Optima Yellow tops etc.... price offset against performance lead me to these NUMAX L110 (http://www.ukbatterysales.co.uk/applications.asp?AID=15) plenty of SPL boys run them and serve them brilliantly and there also deep cycle batteries as can be run totally flat without danaging them.
The spec:
Part Number: L110
Description: Numax 110Ah, 12Volts, Numax Leisure Range
Dimensions: L:345 W:173 H:233
Weight: 29.5Kg
At 345mm long its not the smallest battery in the world LOL BUT a stroke of luck was it'll fit perfectly in the boot where the standard battery would go so that just left me to fabricate something to house the existing battery, some 1x1 box and the existing battery tray from under the bonnet this is what I ened up with 8) abit of welding bish bash bosh...
Cue the pics.................. ;)
VVVVVV the blue box indicates the size and where the Numax battery will go

I know from the pics it doesn't look like much but tbh I'm dead chuffed with it and it was/is a very impostant part of the project to get sorted, I dont want a lose battery flying about the boot!
The framework has been sprayed satin black and the battery clamp has a coat of BMW Artic Silver (of course ;)) just to tidy it up :P 8) :P and with nice shiney bolts etc... it does look the part in the boot shame it wont ever be seen when the install gets built
Next up is get the Numax in and get the split wiring sorted [cool

words fail me. You know how much respect I have for you doing all of this work yourself and that respect just grows and grows. I don't even have a vision of where this will end up. I was watching an old episode of American Hotrod and Boyd Coddington was talking about a de-cluttered engine bay and it looks amazing. No wires, no tubing, just a big block engine floating in nothingness.
Will you be going for a colour change?

Thanks Fas [cool the plan is just to have the engine (non BMW.. there a chose of 2 atm I'm yet to decide ;) ) and like you said nothing else under the bonnet
I'm umming and ah-ing about a colour change if I was going to change the colour it would be to a steel grey... that teamed up with tan leather would look just amazing imo but on the other hand keep the Hellrot would keep it very subtle looking...its a very tough chose

Just got back from getting my tyres fitted onto the 10's :D
225/35's on a freaking 10"!!!!!!!! Euro crazyness.... LOL
Built up the new 10 last week let the silicone set for a good few days and today was the day! the tyre fella fitted them no worries but said he WOULD NOT inflat them due to the width of them on the rim...fair do's I thought he needs to cover his arse... so I took the uninflatted tyre around to Tesco and did it myself  These are the 225's that were fitted to my 9.5's (that are doing on the front) now I'm planning on a 215/35 for the 9.5's :D :P
I've seen 1 picture of a 225 on a 10 so I new they would seal and be coolio
This is what I call a stretch.............. fucking insane! LMAPMFSL!!! I'm in luuuuuuuuuv!!

Well to give you some more ish to look at I've been working hard on the arch the last few evenings  and now the metal work is pretty much completed bar a few tiny areas the need a tiny bit more ginding back. Theres about 12-15 hours work in this so far and I still haven't started on welding the inner out outer arch back together!!!
To say this has been a learning experience is a slight understatement!!!I let the pics do the talking...if you've got any questions about what your looking at then just holla :D
Shame the pics dont show the work very well, I'm very happy with how its turned out for a first attempt, those hammers and dollies have paid for themselfs 10x over already.
It'd be alot better to give you a wider shot of the car as well but then you'd see the other bodywork and I'd have to track you down and kill ya

Didn't really do much today apart from tweak the rear bumper so it flows into the arch.
Its was done by modding the bumper rail/hanger slightly and then good old fibreglass to build up the bumper
The initial shape is there and I'm happy with how its coming along... more shaping then need to start fillering/sanding etc....

19/8/06 The start of Project CAGE!!!!!1
Its doesn't look like much but this is the start of something thats had many hours of research, measuring, cutting, bending and head scratching to get to this stage.
Starting from the beginning, if you remember me saying I wanted to install a roll cage in the coupe just purely for looks, gotta love a caged ride 8). The Weicher ones, didn't really suit my needs (or wants) mainly due to the fit around the B-pillar... as I will be running harnesses I removed the seat belt mounting points and smoothed the b-pillar trims, if I install a 'regular' off the shelf Weichers cage I'd have unsightly gaps around the b-pillar where they leave space for the usual seat belt anchors and also the welds look very messy from the pictures I've seen, not to mention the price and postage costs.....so the only thing for it was custom!!
I had planned to make it all myself, buy the CDS tubing (a mild steel Cold Drawn Seemless tube) and bend it up with a pipe bender borrowed from a mate. I had found a source for the CDS so game on I thought......Armed with 15mm copper pipe and pipe insulation the 2 combined made a perfect 50 outside diameter exactly the same as the planned CDS I wanted to use I started making the template that the CDS would need to be bent to.
On reading up I soon realised that this bender I had wasn't up to the job and I really needed a mandrel tube bender :( and these bad boys costs '000s!!!! not an option. So the search started for an engineering company local to me that could bend the tube for me, trawling around the industrial estates for freaking ages drew blanks. Bored with the lack of success the templates were cast to the corner of the garage and forgotten about..... BUT last week I was surveying a building on a trading estate that I hadn't really cased 100% when searching all those months ago, I stumbled across a small fabrication place that had just moved into these premises and the owner Jamie.
I wandered through the door and explained I had the templates for the cage I just needed to get the CDS bent to shape....after a few minutes chatting about the car and the work I'm doing etc...
"I could get it bent no problems, we have a company that bends all our stuff but we work the aluminium here, as the roll cage isn't planned to be structural it'd look alot nicer out of 63mm alley"
"I'd love to have the cage in alley but unfortunately I don’t have the equipment to weld that"
"well if you've got the interest, I'd be more than happy to help you, I love tickering about with bits like this far for enjoyable that the large batch work that makes us our money"
FUCKING RESULT!!!!!!1
After more chats we formulate a plan of action, I go and produce a CAD drawing of the cage and main hoop with critical dimensions and angles of the bends etc.... taken from my templates (sounds easy to do but it took me 2 evenings of checking and tweaking the angles and lengths) as it was now going to be fabricated away from where my car was these dims and angles had to be bang on! As cutting, test fit, bending, test fit was not an option! really doesn't sound much but this is all new to me... I'm learning as I go so I'm starting to get abit nervous because if I've fucked up an angle this thing isn't going to fit....
Get the drawing up to Jamie and he speaks for this company that supplies and bends his alley, this Thursday rolls up and I pop into see him on the off chance and my tubing and bends have just been dropped off, special trip made by the bending company! LMAO! Full steam ahead..... today (saturday) was d-day.
Roll up to his gaff about 9.30am this morning and start work :) this chap is a true craftsman!!! 25+ years experience and damn is shows. Working from my main hoop template and CAD drawing 'we' (I say we but it was really him, I just chipped in when I could I just stood back and soaked in as much as possible about how he worked, his methods of thinking through problems and generally trying to pick up on new skills and how to better what I already know) got to work.
I've no pictures of the initial stages with all the bends and straights in pieces because I forgot my camera :opps: BUT this is the result of a mornings work, I said to him that if we just tack the pieces in place and let me trial fit the main hoop just to check it fitted then if it did fit we could weld it properly and carry on with the rest of the cage next week. (I do doubt myself alot so right up to the moment it was actually in the car I had doubted whether it was going to fit, I need to trust my skills )
Think the pictures speak for themselves :P 8) it bloody fits and I'm over the moon with it! (as was Jamie ) now the main hoops in place and I can now re-check the dims for the rear diagonals and the X-brace, produce another CAD drawing with angles etc, make the templates for the mounting plates.... and hopefully crack on with the rest :P
I know it doesn't look like much but this a result of off and on 4 months work….. the saga continues….

Now time to start the box, been working on it a couple evenings this week so not really achieved much. the box needed for a 15" XXX is (around) 4 cu ft. after displacement and port  so it going to be a big boy! Both my SE's only need 3.6 cu ft!
This is the start vvvvvv and has given me the first 2.5 cu ft... now the rest of the box will be built within the cabin (between the wheel arches to give me the rest of the volume needed :D the sub will be mounted arse out at some fucky angle 8) ;)
The boxing is/was a bitch to make mainly because I'm trying to get it as tight to the car as poss to give me the largest volume with the least space, I cant be arsed with a complete fibreglass box this time as its a mission to get it thick enough to be up to the job so this time around it's going to be mainly 18mm MDF with a smattering of fg ;)
Also a change from my last install is that the box/amp rack with just be constructed in the 'regular' way and then to give me the swooping contours I want I'm going to construct a final large curved & contoured fg trim piece to give me the look I'm after unlike the last install which was each individual piece was built to the desired shape from the off. Again all will become clear when I get going :)

Damn didn't think it'd been nearly a month since an update :(
The thought of fitting a new shower didn't fill me with glee so I snuck off down the garage today :D first time I've worked on the car in weeks!
I'd been putting off working on the passenger arch mainly becaue I'd done the driverside and really couldn't be arsed to do the other, repeating what I've done once before is boring to me.
Anyway bite the bullet and got down to it :D soooo much quicker the second time around though, knew what metal to shop out of the inner wing etc.... just a pain getting both sides to match perfectly but with the contour gauge and a couple templates I got there :D still need to finish welding the inner arch back to the outer and finish the area around the rub strip but the main grotty work is done :P

Hmmm, tough times at the moment :( I cant get on with the ICE install until I get the rollcage done because I need to know exactly where the cross brace will be so I can work out where I can mount the sub magnet outwards but the fellas thats doing the welding is up to his ears in work :( :( so I'm kinda scratching around what to do.
All I can really post is I test fitted the smoothed headlining just to be sure it fits perfectly before I remove it and trim the thing in tan!! 8) 8)

Today! - Oh man what a day!
After deciding that my local garage that fitted the first 225 on the 10 couldn't be trusted to try and fit the new 215's on the 9.5's there was only one option to find another company that fitted of stretch tyres ...the first company that springs to mine when it comes to fitting crazy arsed stretch tyres in Sytle Dynamix in Hayes! They rule the roost when it comes to all things Euro! 8) 8)
A phone call during the week just to confirm they could fit me in on saturday the plan was hatched. Seems abit crazy to drive 140 miles, 2 1/2 hours round trip just to get tyres fitted but needs must!!!
Rocked up this morning just before 11 and explained what was what... I needed the remaining 225 taking off the 9.5 and putting on the newly made up 10 and then fitting the brand new 215's on the 9.5's.
The chaps set to work pretty much straight away getting the 225 off the 10 and getting the 215's onto the 9.5's..... now with a good dose of jemmy bars and such like the new 215's were on in no time! :D :D Leaving some poor dudes Civic up on the ramps half way through having a set of coilovers fitted! PMSL!!!
Check out these man..... how the fuck are they going to seal on the rims!!! :smt103 :smt119
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC03493.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC03494.jpg
If the tyres were about 4 inches wider it would have been a walk in the park for the fellas but as they like a challenge I didn't want to make it too easy  ;)
Down at SD they've the trickest bit of kit I've seen for ages! Its called a Bead Blaster  in a nut shell its like an air canon! you fill a canister with compressed air on the blaster then place the end of the 'canon' between the edge of the rim and the tyre, everyone stands well back apart from the brave sole with the Blaster and the maniac thats holding the tyre in the correct position on the tyre  then fire this thing and it shoots 140psi of air into the side of the tyre inflatting it and popping it over the inner beads on the wheel (PMSL that the theory!!!)
Now these are brand spanking new 215/35's which basically means they have FUCK ALL tyre wall which makes them a cunt to stretch! Most stretches are done with a 40 or 45 profile which makes the side wall more ply-able and easier to seal and stretch.
The first 215 took abit of work first needed to soften the side walls, this was done by using the bead breaker part of the tyre fitting machine just to lossen them up abit, next was to grease the crap out of the side to give them every chance to pop over the inner beads and seal.
Then it was onto the Bead Blaster!!!! Ive said how the thing works so now check out the vids!!!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/tincorner1/th_MOV00007.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v301/tincorner1/?action=view¤t=MOV00007.flv)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/tincorner1/th_MOV00009.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v301/tincorner1/?action=view¤t=MOV00009.flv)
Got the first one on with abit of hassle (about an 1 1/2 hours) and still the boys weren't losing their rags or getting discouraged with the work in hand!!! That fact alone makes these fellas worth their weights in gold! (and thats alot of fucking gold! LMAO)
On to the second 215...... boy..... there not much to say, the process was repeated and the they had the tyre popping over the inner beads with the balster but the fucking would NOT seal!!!! :x Customers came and went, people turned up and had a mooch around and went.... and the tyre still wasn't sealing there was one area that just wouldn't sit right..... heads were being scratched and a final plan formulated  8) A dollop of rubber beading compund around the problem area and the tyre was popped on for the final (fingers crossed) time, its went on and was leaking air... I can imagine the look of frustration on my face would have been clear but then I was reminded that there was over 120 psi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the tyre!! so no doubt it'd leak under any condition! As the tyres was slowly deflated to around 60psi the leaking had stopped and by the time it was down to 40 there was nothing, not a drop! :D :D
The beading compound was left to dry while the boys tucked into there chicken and I went to do some other shizzle (;)). When I got back the tyre was still inflated and it was looking pukka!!!
So I rolled up at 10.45 and left a 3.40!!! not once did they try and say it wasn't possible and try to give up, "I'm not getting beaten by a bloody tyre" was said plenty of time!
Had plenty of laughs, some head scratching and a bloody good day all things considered! But they were damn glad to see the back of me!!!!!
HUGE thanks to Style Dynamixs! Dont think any other garage would have had the patience these dudes had.... :smt023 :smt038
p.s: the actual pictures of the newly fitted up tyres will come tomorrow but you've seen the sort of shit before.... today was all about the story ;)

Went on a cracking little adventure today (sunday) to Hanworth to relieve an M3 Evo of its rear end (oh err) :P
Nice and simple to drop the back off a total of 6 bolts! so I'm now the proud owner of an M3: LSD, subframe, Rear Trailing arms (complete with ///M stamp! BM done love the ///M logo), discs, calipers, propshaft, as new dampers and springs (which aren't really needed so will be hitting ebay :)) and anything else associated that I've forgotten 8)
All of it will be stripped down smoothed(!) and sent away for summat a little special ;) ;)

Off work ill today so I thought I'd snap a few pics of the stretch tyres and also the EVO rear end 8)
A nice little bonus, I picked up the springs just to put them on the rearend for the pictures and I noticed the Eibach logo(!) a quick clean up and a call to Eibach UK to give them the parts number on the side... turns out there -15mm Eibach Pro rear springs! :P
They'll be hitting the FS section soon  8)

Really not sure on the new alloys (preferr the hamaans) but love the rest of it. Best e36 saloon I have seen, quite possibly. Immaculate condition too you should b proud!
I would also like to add,
You are seriously one of the most talented single individuals I have come across in my days. The amount you do yourself! Where did you pick up all this knowledge? Did you learn it all by yourself or were you taught by someone else? :) I am majorly impressed. Look forward to reading the rest of this topic!!!

One more session should see it all welded up ready for polishing!! :D :D :P
Decided to run only a single brace as when I mocked the 'X' it would detract from the install too much and hide the sub's magnet and made the rear look too cluttered.

Tiny bit of an update....
Ages ago on my site I made up a new frame to mount the standard battery in the boot and have the planned second battery underneath (a Numax L110) but I managed to pick up a huge bargin on an Optima yellow top. This was loads smaller than the Numax so I could make the battery frame sit lower.
So abit of chopping and making up a few brackets etc....

Well its been pretty much a year since P89 came off the road
The chrimbo break has let me crack on with new enthusiam on the bodywork :P :P the arches have had another couple hours on them getting them even better with the hammers and dollies 8) Proper chuffed with there shape and finish.
The rest of the mods on the front wings are well underway. I'm just sorting out the final details for the side mouldings before I start to make those ;) going to be something alittle special ;)
I'm just trying to tidy up a few loose ends, odds and sods that have been started and not properly finished so its nice to get a few of those out of the way :)
So here is how she stands as of today  wingless, skirtless, engine bay in a state, interiorless and generally abit of a pickle LOL best pull my socks up in '07

And Today :D :D :D
Been working silly hard on the bodywork over the last few weekends and I'm getting on great guns (all staying under wraps) :) 2 of the final 'few' BIG pieces are in my grubby mits ready to be chopped up!
I got me some new door handles! :D :D :D I've loved these handles for years because (imo) they're real trick and I had to incorporate them into this project car (I had wanted to put them on a previous project but never got around to it lol)
Fiat Barchetta handles :D :D silly rare and prime for being cut to hell and stuck on an e36! LMFAO!!!
Managed to track down 3 sets to start with,
1st set STUPIDLY expensive!!!!!,
2nd set "yes mate, you can have those doors no problem, you had a big accident in yours?", "Nah, not really I'm chopping them up and fitting them on my BMW project car", "Do what! these doors are mint! I'm not letting them go just to be butchered!!"
3rd set (kept mouth shut LOL) bargin price, incredilbley long drive to collect them 7 hour round trip! BUT THERE MINE!!!!! :P :P :P
Its not going to be an easy ride because I want to mount them in the swage line of the door to get them looking spot on, above or below the swage they'd look too much of an after thought if you catch ma drift? So the handles and surrounding metal will be cut out of the barchetta door in the usual fashion, then the plastic oval (handle surround) and metal will be cut horizonatally through the middle so I'll then be able to weld the top half into the top of the swage and the bottom (funnily enough) into the bottom, make good and Bobs you uncle in the swage, happy days! lol!!!
oh then theres the linkage etc....lol
Should be fun ;) heres a few pictures of the doors and the handles in action :D (really need to treat myself you a new digi)

Close up of the handle looking all nice and slick lol

Woohoo! the final pieces of the bodywork got collected today! :D :D the bits needed for the e46 frontend
They were all taken from an '05 (facelift) 330ci coupe 8) stupidly hard to track these headlights basically because these cars aren't being written off as they'll still worth so much! One piece units and look as cool as feck!
Trying to track down these bits I called 6-7 breakers and the only place to have the headlights were Quarry Motors (pretty much the largest BM breakers in the country) and they wanted £250 each!
The prices quoted were:
£250 per headlight
£95 per wing
£200 for the bonnet
TOTAL: £890
Not a cheap option but it had to be done!!!! I was considering using facelift lights of a saloon as they are way more common (therefore cheaper) but when these coupe lights came up I had to have them, they were my first chose but the price was slighty putting me off but if I'm building the car exactly how I want I needed these lights! I wont be starting this immediately, I want to finish the rear bumper, fit the Barchetta door handles..then onto the frontend. Only thing left to buy is the clubsport front bumper
Cue the pictures and let the fun times roll.....LOL

I've pulled my neck this morning, slept awkwardly last night, so been reading this thread and your site for the last few hours while in bed ... damn great read fella!!!
 AWESOME!!!!
I can't wait to see it all finished!!!
Best of luck with the final details,

31st Jan '07 SPEND SPEND SPEND!!!!!
Just had a lovely little parcel from ChrisK @ Prestige Audio drop on my desk!
The speakers for my doorcard build/remodel 8)
A set of DLS RW6 6" subs (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dls-rw6-p-5502.html) & a set of DLS R4's (4" comps) (http://www.prestigeaudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/5/products_id/309)
The reason for these.... with the XXX hitting so low and being so close to my head I wanted something inbetween it and the DLS PS6 comps so that was the reason for the RW6's! 8) and the R4's? well the door would look plain with just a single drivers in there LOL honestly though it's help raise the sound stage more
Will be a nice little trio and with a couple little touches up my sleeve should be a nice look 8)

Right todays little installment. Starting the door handles swap! :D
***I've not done anything like this before so if I've done something glearingly obvious wrong then tough shit!**** lol!!!
After getting annoyed with not being able to lower the window because I've no power in the car I got even with the door & cut the standard handle out! Not as drastic as you might think because I'm welding in the new handle & surround metal (the easy way to do a handle swap!)
I win!!!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04130.jpg
Then started the mock up & shaping of both the BMW door & the section I'd cut out of the Barchetta door (which was hugely curved & a general pain in the arse!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04132.jpg
Thank you Fiat! Bin fodder!!! ££££!!!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04134.jpg
Piece I'll be working with :)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04136.jpg
After lots of cutting & measuring with both the door & new peice it was time to get them together, now with the BMW handle being in the swage line I wanted to do the same with the Barchetta handle because above or below the swage would really make these handles stick out like a baboons arse & look shit! but because the Fiat hasn't got this line running through the handle I had to make one  this is were is starts to get alittle worrying LOL v.expensive Fiat doors already in the bin, the remaining parts just about to saw sawn horizontally through the centre! LMAO
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04145.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04147.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04149.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04152.jpg
Looks pretty damn nice hey! but that was only half the job because how the surrounding metal was matching the swage line I had to cut the actual handle in half so each half would line through with the swage.
Also the handle have a slight twist in the that followed the lines in the Fiat door so that had to be sanded out to flow with the nice straight BMW lines (another job that isn't apparent when first looking)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04155.jpg
Sanded & dismantled
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04160.jpg
Chopped in half & a little test fit :D :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04161.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04162.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04164.jpg
After that I welded the surrounds in completly, hopfully you can make out the swage line I made running through the handle surround (the flash made it look abit cack.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04179.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04183.jpg
After that I did a job that I should have done at the start and that was to remove the glass! Shit me they are complicated to get out!!!!! fuck knows about getting it all back in! LMAO I'll keep the passenger door complete so I have a reference to work to
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04174.jpg
Had a little fire when welding  nice melted plastic

Glassless
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04178.jpg
All the parts put back together (as much as poss) so I dont get 'oh 3 bolts left over' syndrome LOL
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04184.jpg
And finally... a little test fit of the handle and stuff to end the day :) a shed load more work to do (obvisouly) I think this is the easy part done tbh. I'm not looking forward to working out the mechanism's to get te hfiat handles working with the BMW door catches, ah well.

....ALTHOUGH....
I like how it looks and the finish is just what I wanted but I always pictured me doing a tan leather cowl so I think this is more of just a practice as its been the most complicated piece I've done so far. So I'll do my tan one as planned and just swap and change as I want unless someone wants this.
Thats all for now, I've got a shelf full of other carbon waiting to be wrapped so there'll be lots more to come yet :D :P
Little touches and more carbon LOL
A few little changes to hte centre console ///M trim :) laid up some carbon instead of the alcantara I had used and as a finishing touch I bought some little allen headed bolts, tapped a couple holes & added them for abit of detail (these bolts will run through out the interior)

Door handles working :D
BIG milestone today! Got the Barchetta door handle up and running! :D :D :D
Last week I decided I didn't like the look of the push button on the right of the handle so I cut up the passenger door handle and set about feetling that so it fitted.
BEFORE
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04186.jpg
AFTER just in zinc primer to stop any surface rust :)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04446.jpg
Got all the internal brackets fabricated welded in to the door so the handle could be bolted to the door
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC04440.jpg
Then today I had to start sussing out the new linkage needed to link the Barchetta handle to the BMW lock (eek!!)
This one I've made is just to get the door up & running, its a proper Heath Robinson affair atm but now I've got the lengths of parts & hinge points etc I can set about making 2 much nicer looking parts :)
Was abit of a brain taxer for me but after a first attempt that didn't really work this second one worked superbly! :D :P
It ain't pretty but its a temporary measure!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00182.jpg
and finally.......
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/th_MOV00178.jpg (http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/?action=view¤t=MOV00178.flv)

Test fitted the door glass and everything back in the door and it all clears the new handle & linkage so jobs a good'un!!!
bring on the passenger side!!!! :D
Odds & sods
Thought I'd stick up some bits of what I've been doing recently. Nothing major just lots of little jobs.
Got the passenger handle welded in, LOADS quick & neater than the first handle!! (took me an evening instead of a week!!!)

Carbon sills take 2! :D
I love them... smoothed all the grooves in them apart from the middle one, wrapped them in carbon then had some cheeky stainless trims made up with a tiny BMW logo etched in just for abit of detail, matching allen headed bolts as the centre console & tweeter build :D

This weekends little escapade!!! :D :D
Started the e46 frontend!!!
Ever since I decided I wanted to do the front end swap I've been collecting loads of pictures of e36s with e46 frontend. Theres loads of variations that people have done, preface lights with the e36 bonnet welded to the nose cone. preface lift with the front section of an e46 bonnet welded on to the e36 one and so on.
Now I've never seen a conversion thats absolutely nailed it (imo) I thought I'd take the time to post a few pictures of conversions I've found and say what doesn't work on them...
I'm only going through the facelift ones, theres loads of preface lift convserions but as I've facelift I not bothered about the others.
First up is this, e46 facelift headlights with e36 bonnet welded to the nose cone. Now to me this doesn't do it for me, if you going the hole hog you may as well use the e46 grilles. Kind of a half way attempt
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/73JPG.jpg
Next is getting in the right direction, facelift lights (saloon lights, seperate indicators and curved underside of the lights), from section of the e46 bonnet welded on to the e36 one.
Its getting near what I'm doing BUT if you look and the swage lines of the e36 bonnet they are alot closer together than the e46 so when the swage runs down to the e46 griles the flow of the lines are broken and you left with an awkward looking bonnet imo. Its a little detail but VERY important to me!.... close but no cigar!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/Mein2BAuto2BBild7.jpg
This is more to illustrate the fit of an unfelttled e46 sport bumper to an e36....
Pretty poor, doesn't flow with the exsiting lines of the e36 arches, too bulbus, that teamed with the M3 grilles etc... makes this look like a pretty ill fitting poor conversion
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/FotosEbeling009ab.jpg
And lastly is this one, ALMOST perfect... but something I noticed the other night while looking at the pictures...
If you look very closely at the inner corner of the lights were the dip in the bumper starts the edge of the light over hangs ever so slighty, looks like 15-20mm.. again messes up the lines. It has the same grilles as me but again as they've only used the front section the lines dont work with the bonnet.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/06_2007_26.jpg
So in a nut shell my plan is.... fettle the sport front bumper so it flows in with the e36 lines, make sure the lights fit as OEM as possible and flow with the lines of the bumpers. Use the entire e46 facelift bonnet! (think it'll be a first!!! :D as I never seen any pictures of any using the whole thing, only the front section) to keep the swage lines flowing into the grilles.
Onto the progress pictures ;)
First of get the bumper mounted so I can base the light position off of it, I cut about 6-8 inches of each side of the brace to allow the bumper to fit better over it and then drilled the brace and used the OEM fixing holes
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00345-1.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00362.jpg
Now onto the tweaking of the bumper ;)
BEFORE
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00349-1.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00346.jpg
AFTER
I cut slits in the top and bottom curves of the bumper, the tops been pulled in about 15-20mm and the bottom been pulled in 50mm!!!! MUCH better!!! :D :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00358.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00361.jpg
Once that was done (took alot longer that just 2 pictures worth! :lol
Now I had a starting base I could start cutting metal out of the inner wings to get the light actually in the car, these e46 lights are HUGE compared to the e36 ones!! I'll save the pictures of the carnage till the end LOL the front of the arches had to be pulled slightly as the headlights in the position I wanted them made stick out past the wing.
Now I had to fix the side of the bumper, the e36 carrier bracket things were useless so I had to fab a couple little brackets, 1 to fix the bumper to the wing and the other to fix the new position of the slightly pull arch to the car (as the new position was outside of the original fixing hole) the angle you see going into the e46 bumper will be bonded to the actual bumper.
The bumpers rock solid!!! :D :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00378.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00379.jpg
Moving on... LOL
Start the make the wings look abit more purposeful after hacking them to bits at the start LOL having cut the front corner off the wing to get the lights in (in fair I shouldn't of but hey ho) I had to weld in the front corner again, thankfully I had a couple spare fronts of e36 wings I saved from when I made my carBQ!!!! to using one of those corners I tacked it back in place and started eyeing up the front of the e46 wing piece
LOL thanks e46 wings....
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00381.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00382.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00383.jpg
As you can see from the above pic ^^^^^ the line of the plastic trim doesn't follow the new line of the bumper. Busted out the gas torch, heated the plastic and tweaked the trim to it now flows with the bumper line! :D
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00385.jpg
The whole next stage is lacking pictures mainly because I didn't know where I was going to end up, either an e36 wing with a nicely welded in e46 facelift wing section OR utter bin fodder! it was touch and go LOL still needs more work along the front edges and stuff but it's a good base to start the finishing touches :)
THE BACK EDGE OF THE WING (THE PART THAT GIVE THE ARCH SHAPE) ISN'T FINISHED, IT'LL FLOW ALOT BETTER WHEN ITS DONE ;)
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00386.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00387.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00388.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00390.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00391.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00396.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00400.jpg
And without the light in place you can see what I've had to cut out, passenger side still untouched
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00393.jpg
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e255/tincorner2/DSC00394.jpg
Doing the bumper and this headlight (still no where near finished) has taken all weekend!! Its going to be a long old process.... LOL

holy jesus! just sat and read all 16 pages of this thread and i'm absolutely amazed! read some of Andy's carbon fibre DIY threads before and was majorly impressed/inspired but it seems that is just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to his modding skills. Top man Andy.... an inspiration to us all! :D :D :D

over the last couple weeks I've been rustling up some custom grilles for my DLS PS6's in my carbon speaker pods.
I could have used the standard grilles but that wouldn't do :) Thought the grille design DLS use for there tweeters would make and ace design if scaled up for the mids
Progress pictures.....

I found a company local to me that does laser cutting, so sent them a .dxf drawing and £20 and a few days later I had a couple stainless steel trims cut :D
Ordered some longer M3 allen headed bolts of ebay a couple days ago so with those turned up I could drill some holes in the speaker surrounds and tap the holes for the bolts to fix the stainless trims :)
Finished pictures :)
