Although I recall that the later 330d's were a bit better, I think they're putting the new 3.5d into the E90. That will be a belter of a car.

IIRC in general, std 330d performance will feel similar to 325 (totally different driving characteristics) but a chipped 330d can outperform a std 330 petrol. Masses of torque.

You either like them or you don't. Try one out first.

The new 535d is 3ltr still but uses twin turbos. 272bhp :D

In a 3, assuming it will go there, that could almost be the first M Diesel!

T, just wet ur appetite.

BMW Car Jan 2005,

" Perhaps the biggest shock of all is how closely the 330Cd pushed for overallvictory. 'The only car you'll ever need,' reckoned Seb; 'a bloody fantastic piece of kit,' agreed Knapman. At this stage in its life, you'd expect BMW to have ironed out all the E46's faults, and true enough, the Coupe does feel staggeringly accomplished.

Most people buying this car would make it a Sport, with an autobox. And most people would be missing out on the better car. It might hurt come resale time, but a manual SE is just perfect: supple, taut, and allowing you to extract every ounce of performance from the mighty 3.0-litre turbodiesel. Subtle, understated looks, a comfortable, high-quality cabin and effortless ground-covering ability both on the motorway and through the twisties made sure that the 330Cd's key-fob was never unattended for long. The E90 had
better be good."

" E46 Coupe is an old stager these days, but the depth of this cars; abilities still shine through; 3.0 litre diesel mill, six speed manual box and SE trim proved to be a perfect combination of comfort, control and performance."

In this months BMWCar there is a article about a chiped (DMS) 330CD vs a M3 tested back to back at Bruntingthorpe. The last paragraph that reads;

'So, is the M3 still invincible?, Just, but slot a DMS tweaked 535d lump under the bonnet and like Boris Grishenko the M3 may well find out that there's always someone out there who's just a little bit cleverer than it is, The M diesel must come soom and an E90 M335d would fit the bill perfectly!!!!!!!'
