Went into the dealers today and notice that they are now offering a sat-nav retro-fit for £999 fitted and supplied for the 3. You may have seen the pictures, uses some apparently funky TM (traffic mangement) button type function thingy.

Parts bloke didn't know much about it but it sounds like they're using the old stock (i.e. non Mark IV with smaller non-widescreen units).

Can anyone add any more info? If not, I'll get the SP tomorrow.

If it's the TM retrofit, it's junk.

It's a button on the dash which when pressed, connects you to a call centre. You tell the advisor where you want to go, they download the map to the car, and a voice tells you to where to go. if you get lost, there's no re-route, just another call to the call centre.

Not worth £1k. Spend £300 on tom tom go

£300!!! i want one.
where can you get it for this price.
i've been searching around and the lowest i found is around £370 for a brand new unit.
i've tried my friends one, but i don't think it's got the postcode search where you just type in the postcode instead of the street name.

Have you guys tried the iPAQ + GPS and use TOM TOM - its brill!

It uses Tom Tom 3 , download the speed camera plug in, as well as the post code finder its works a treat. Also runs you through the entire route, turn by turn in 3D, in a demo mode.

It brill - highly recommended.

Ebay! pretty cheap a few pounds...

Which one do you have? I have an iPAQ H550 + NAVMAN3450 + Arkon powered/amp cradle up for sale if anyone is interested.

For sale because I now have the iPAQ 2210 + GPS etc - from work!

Yes Afif, you need a GPS receiver, they normally come as part of a kit. I was just looking at that CarPC and you can get a USB GPS Receiver for about £55 from this place. Not sure if USB is suitable though.

I quite like the CarPC idea :D But I think the iPaq and TomTom route is the best for the money, I haven't heard anyone dislike it.
