The front car was driven by 2 young model looking chicks...hmmmmm :D The rear one has blacked out window so couldn't see a thing. There was also a white 997 with number plate YES 997 supposed to be a fine car too but look like crap parking next to the 2 SLRs at traffic light lol.

I too have seen the diplomat-plated SLR in London. I wonder how the tax payers will think if they found out that their hard earned cash was used to fund this level of lifestyle. Surely they can't justify a SLR for 'business use' [hmm All diplomats in the world get 10% off RRP from Mercedes so maybe this guy took the 31k discount

I'm guessing diplomats have different number plates and it begs a stupid question, why?
What a sight though. :D

A diplomat you don't have to pay road tax, you can't give them parking or speeding tickets.

they normally have things like s class and 7 series so they normally dont get touched by cops either.. dont think they can get done for speeding etc but the can be reported for being stupid but nothing ever comes of these things. its a D in the middle.

I still don't like the SLR, think it looks ugly. If I was a diplomat, I'd tell Mercedes where to shove the 10% discount and buy a 2nd hand McLaren F1........ok, 10 years or so old, but who cares, it's got a better engine anyway :)

the noise was awesome I can still hear it while sleeping :D
I saw a Corsa with a diplomatic plate once...
on another note I never quite understand that sometime you see a person holding some kind of plate standing by the motorway junction entrance. What are they doing and what is the plate they are holding? For sale or something?

if its what im thinking your seeing people with trade plates, red and black? If it is those its that they have dropped a car off for a customer and are basically thumbing a lift home. The holding of the plate tries to signify they are genuine. It saves the company money on fares back or a following car. Not many about these days due to muggings and thefts no one will trust anyone.
wow!
saw a black slr today, like teddy said the noise is unbelivable

There's always a guy in a raincoat with a trade plate at the A3 Guildford junction. He looks like this and I've never seen him get picked up. Maybe a change in attire may help...
also embassies get 'official' plate - one number and 3 letters. So for a country like Tanzania, they get '1 TAN'.

Your right Russ, but the reason they do it is because I believe it is cash in their pocket. They get paid a rate for dropping off then getting back, so if they can thumb a lift back it is a little extra cash for them.
As for 2 SLR's, well I would be in shock, and I wouldn't probably have got my phone out in time, as I would have been frozen to the spot with my jaw on the ground (and Mrs Raj328 telling me to stop it :D ). Nice one Teddy.
