can any one tell me why rear led,s wont fit pre 2001 coupes

they will, you just need a new wiring loom.

Pre-2001 cars have a different wiring setup. You can get a retrofit kit from the dealer which is slightly more expensive than a post-2001 / pre-facelift model, which includes the loom so all is not lost.

BOTH sets of cars will need the dealer to reprogram the LCM (Lighting Control Module) to get rid of the lights on the dash. As the LED's draw less power, the cars brain thinks that the bulbs have blown.
