Guys I want to have my car windows tinted badly as you know Kav's kindly given us his contact so I say we go down the group buy route and get some more discounts? I think it's 175 for 1 car but maybe if we could get 3-4 cars then surely the price would be even better?
last time I heard Digs wanted to have his donw too...

If we can get the price down to £150, I'm 200% in
I may include the wife's car as well, so there's an extra one straight away.
Also, tedster, if you're taking the lead on this, can you confirm the price is good for my hardtop AND the glass in the softop

ok no problem so we have 3 cars now me, Fas x 2.
Kav can you PM me this guys number so I can ring him to arrange something?
Fas bro I'll ask it for you he might want to charge slightly more for the ht though I think?
BigFas

Tell him if he wants the business he does the HT for the same price. All other tint places will do it for the same price

We also need to be realistic. If we get 5-6 cars, there's no way this guy can do a quality job in 1 day. 2-3 hours / car, for a good job, I would say 3 cars / day max.
I'm happy to host the days at my place, give the neighbours something to gossip about :)
Teddy, if you can arrange something over a weekend, the guy can set his tent up at my place and he can do the cars. You guys are then more than welcome to come over and spend the day, or come at an alloted time so you don't have to wait around.
Oh, and EvoTechnik crew get pizza ;)
id come for the pizza :D. Although by the looks of it this isnt going to happen before i get the car back so i shud be in! Definately agree with the 2-3 cars a day max. Last thing any of us wants is poor quality job!
U reckon i shud phone my insurance company first ?... hmmmmm

rang the chap 10 times today but his phone was switched off all the time...might be busy doing tints lol sent him a couple of SMS too still waiting for replies...
Kav said this chap is mobile so once we decide a place he'll come to us. Fas your forecourt is too small he need to set up tents as well. I think the car park in front of my flat is pretty idea as it's off road and very quiet. 3 cars a day max I think but let me have a word with him first...
So we have:
Fas x 2
Mits
Teddy
The tinter used to work for Pentagon most tinters charge at least 320 I think 150 is a really good price.
Kav maybe the number you gave me is incorrect...text me again please?

Guys be careful with the grading and the law. If the tint is too dark you might not be covered if involved in an accident whereby the too dark tint may have contributed to said accident. While you're at it, get the security tint film. Stops low life smashing the windows and some insurance companies give a wee discount once installed. :)

i am in too, was gonna get it done after kav post it on the forum, but after fas mentioned about insurance won't cover if it was tinted ( don't know if he means any tint or just the dark one). :(
which made me think again.
but if it depends on the shade, say kav's car for instant, he's light smoke tint should be within the legal limit, get away with the law but will the insurance still be ok?
yea i was just going to ask about the security tint stuff. Infact if he does that security tint stuff which pentagon does im definately in!

security tint quote from pentagon 750 plus VAT
basically after the regulation change any tints further than B pillar (i.e. front door windows and windscreen) are illegal there is no such a thing as legal limit now however it'll be ok with tints like the one Kav's done as it's so light unless the cops are trying to be nasty. If you get pulled over they'll give you a producer or a notice to have your tints removed withi 10 days of time but who cares lol
still no reply from da chap...

When I spoke to various tinters (inc Pentagon) recently, they all confirmed that ANY tint in the front windows are now illegal, regardless of tint %. Rear quarter windows and rear windscreens are legal. Despite the change in legislation, tinters still install it anyway as it's customer's risk. Some police don't care, some do. Worst case, they'll just ask you to remove it and report back to the station at a later date. I bet that my insurer won't pay out a single penny if they weren't aware of the tint and if the car was subsequently stolen/involved in an accident. Like Fas's insurance company, my insurer won't insure me if I have tints so I have the tint kit sitting in the garage. I've not seen any of the 'security tints' so these may be legal but I have some doubts since it still reduces driver's vision. Many 4x4s have them done now so they are becoming a common sight but I just don't need any issues with the police you know... Only if Britain was a sunny place :(

getting pulled up by police wouldn't be my main concern since i am thinking of getting light smoke tint, the chances will be lower.
it's just the insurance issue i am worried about, if i get in an accident the insurance may not pay up.

u wont get stop by da police for having tints. Mines are 20% all round...had dem well over year now....nvr being stop by da police..
teddy i negotiated pentagon down to £550 with almost no trouble at all. Also thats for my 4 door.
As for getting pulled by the police. Its not going to happen. Theres about 10 cars within walking distance from my house with windows so dark i cant see in the car when i walk past. Its just the insurance thing. Personally i dont reckon they would realise that the windows are tinted and that it makes the warranty void. Unless you get really unlicky and the guy they send out is a real dickhead.
Security tints are same as regular tints except they protect the glass from shattering so even though someone mite break your window they cant gain access (for stock323i)

You negotiated pentagon DOWN to £550?
They saw you coming. Pentagon Tints have a price list. 3 series saloon, with "Armorgard" which is their security film is £500
Speak to their division up Hatfiled way, £300 all in

Pentagon quoted me 'about 350-400 mark' for normal tints (20-25%) for my saloon and I can't afford that, but 550 for security tint is a non-starter for me (I'm waiting to replace it with a coupe) especially now that I had to buy my wife a frickin electric toothbrush that costs 80 quid  When I was quoted for the job, there was a bit of silence and I got the impression that they were deciding the price mostly a) on how expensive your car was, then b) window surface area. Maybe I am a bit paranoid but you can almost hear the '$chi$ching$' over the phone

yes I was but Kav said he'd get a new number for me to ring and he has. Just spoke to the chap and this is the price he's going to give us:
E46 coupe 170
E46 Convertible with hardtop 180
Fas's other car 170
Anyone still in? The location will probably be at the car park outside my flat where there they can set up a tent, it's off road and very quiet too.
Give me a phone call or PM me to confirm.

well, ask the guy how many he can do in a day, don't rush him self to make a crap job.
if you guys mentioned about 3 in a day, then it has to be seperate days for some of us.
teddy and fas x 2 cars = 1 day.
me, durgesh and ali = another day.
lee330sport, mits and james325( maybe) = another day.
anyone know where's the oriental city in colindale?
on the second floor carpark will be a good place to get it done me think.
I AM IN ANYWAY TEDDY, COUNT ME IN.

ok guys got a better deal so I have basically booked 3 cars in for Tuesday next week:
Me, Mits, and Durgesh at 160 each. Fas has dropped out.
The guy is mobile but I don't think he'll want to travel too far away from London though.
So do we have another 3 cars lined up? I have confirmation from Rossi46, anyone else in?
