I have a e46 convertible with the harmon kardon upgrade and a business cd head unit.

I would like to add 2 JL audio subs 10" to this, can this be done and is it difficult to add to the standard system?

Are there any wiring diagrams as to how this can be done?

Does a HK system with subs through a standard head unit sound good?

thanks :)

Rob, You must ditch the Business BMW radio!, I just changed mine to an Alpine CDA 9851R and the HK speakers sound fookin awesome  I'm just about to install my AMP+SUB this weekend, feel free to pop around if you want to hear it.

I agree with Mistasmiff

Id just change the head unit... Iv used a high low converter with my stock unit to wire my jbl w12Gti and PG Octane 8.0.1 amp and id say its kicking about 50-60% of what its supposed to be...

I dont think il change my headunit thou... I cant find a adaptor plate that looks nice with a after market head unit..

Cheers

Mahal, I know what you mean, it doesn't look quite right but it's only temporary, I've managed to get hold of a sunglasses holder which flip opens the other way so the 9851R will be fitted in there the following week. :D

Sounds good....

How are you gonna do that? Cause i wouldnt mind having a second head unit hidden... Can u still use the oem one??

I might do this if its trouble free?

Cheers

hmmmm Maybe its my hi/low converter?

This may sound stupid but how much difference does it make if the wire are the rong way round from the speaker to the hi low converter?

from what i hear about the JL Audio Cleansweep. Its the way to go. It really brings the HK/factory systems to life and should give you good quality outputs to run into your amps for the subs. It is like £350 though.
