Gents,

On the latest guise of the 3.0, BMW seem to have squeezed out a few extra horses, 20 bhp I think.

Anyone know how they've done this and whether we can replicate the changes on our E46 330's?

Cheers

If I'm not mistaken, the new 3.0 is a valvetronic unit, completely different workings, ECU etc. It's something they're introducing across the range

Yup Fas is right, this is what I heard as well.

However Nick and I can show you how to get any thing from 60+ - 100+ BHP if you like, form your 3.0 LOL

It will be much cheaper than than a engine transplant ;) ....

The new valvetronic 6 is essentially a new engine. However, torque stays the same as the current M54 3.0.

It's simple progress really. New motor has Valvetronic head and extra light magnesium crankcase. No doubt better electronics, it's also delivers better mpg too.

To get 250bhp, more mpg and at least 15lbft of torque, get an SSDD CAI and remap. If you still have a warranty make sure the map is undetectable. :) If you changed to a full Eisenmann system you'll see even more :D
