I am deliberating on fitting some ACS mirrors by myself, but I am concerned that I might damage my silver cube trim when trying to take it off and putting it back on again. I know that aluminium is not as flexible as plastic and trust my luck I will create a crease mark or a bump on the trim. I enquired at the dealer and they want £200 per side to fit.<O:p
I hate the idea of someone damaging the car (such as not quite putting the door trim back on again correctly especially if the guilty person is me) I know this sound wimpsh. :o :o :o <O:p
Has any one got any tips for when taking the door trim off thanks?
I have already read up http://www.e46fanatics.com/howto/howtodetail.php?howto_id=28 which has helped.
Hmm i was going to suggest just that i.e. the e46fanatics link... :o

They are in instructions i followed and had no problems, but i do have the plastic trim though. If you are careful you should have no problems. I had to reput on my mirrors on saturday as they needed respraying and the one side should take about 1-2 hours. As I had already done it it took 50 mins.
The only hard problem is taking the motor apart, ballache :( to start with but once you get the idea its all good. As you know you will have to reuse the motors.
There is also a good link on this guys site
http://www.bmw330ci.com/
that i used but it doesnt seem to up at the moment.
If you got the original ACS mirrors you should of received an manual on what to do. That was very handy. Give me a shout and I will send you a photocopy.

The instructions on e46fanatics ARE that good, it's really simple to remove.
If you're still unsure, and you don't mind a trip south, we'll be happy to help install the mirrors for you
fight that inner wimp :D. Although with bmw's whever i hear something snap i always think 'shit how much is that gonna cost'.

I took the plunge and ordered my ACS mirrors today. I actually bought them from the dealer.
Got a good price cheaper than Cookferry’s. I know of another place which I could have got them from an saved a few more pounds but I world have to wait and get the ordered from Germany so I would have seen them till the new year.

I want to get them fitted this side of the New Year as I will be meeting my bros for a new year party and wedding up in Scotland. Want to make them envious :D :D :D
Thanks the generous offer Bigfas of offering to help me fit these, but I will have a go myself. http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Do you mind divulging your source of cheap BMW bits? :) I'm after OE aluminium pillar-look trim. Cooks Ferry want £500 up front before they order

You mean the aluminium INTERIOR trim? Or the external window trim?

To be honest I think I was lucky, the chap was quite young, he gave me a price, which I questioned as he orginally put Vat on top of the RRP (think they do this con often), He recalculated the figure then I stated that I want 10% off and he did. I knew the price already from Cookferrys, so I know that it was a good deal.:D
Cant wait to see them on the saloon, im sure they are going to look phat... ;)

Ive had them on my saloon for a few months now and they definitely set the car off. Changing the wing mirrors to the M ones or ACS is the only way to go. The old mirrors I have in the garage just look like bricks!
