Instead of changing my car in october for a 330ci vert as intended im thinking of keeping mine as an everyday car + buying a TVR Tuscan as the prices are really very reasonable.
Does anyone have any experiences of tuscans as i know there are lots of horror stories about TVR but most of the time its just people exagerating stories theyve heard. I'd be very interested in first-hand experience of them.
My only worry is that i'd get the tuscan and not use the BM at all and am not sure about running a tuscan everyday 20 miles to and from work.
This is the one ive been looking at:

I don't have any 1st hand experience but I love them!!
one of the main delares is down the road from me and the noise as they race up the road is just sick!
also i think tvr now offer a proper 3 year warranty on their cars so maybe pick up one with the balance of the warranty left?
good luck

Only advice is the same as if you were buying an M3 or M5. Make sure it has a TVR warrantee in place. I am going to be doing similar to you in a couple of years but prob a Cerbera. A TVR is worth nothing without a comprhensive warrantee.

A mate of mine had 1 from new.
He had to have it resprayed, engine replaced twice and countless small faults. Needless to say he got rid of it.
But at the same time, he'll tell you he had loads of fun in it.....

A mate of mine has a TVR Chimaera 4.5 and has had a few problems engine wise and bodywork wise since buying and that was with 14,000 miles on it, full factory TVR service history and a warranty.
Although he has had the baffles taken out of the exhaust and it does sound glorious but too noisy as a long driver/every day car.
People & reviews say that reliability wise they stink, not reliable at all and will be mostly in the garage, this applies to the pre-sagaris range as now with new owner at the helm quality testing has been impemented and the quality of the cars coming out has imporved drastically , also warranty is a lot better along with the handling improved.

The main thing with driving TVR's is you can't drive using engine breaking, to the extent that you can, say in your BMW, it's all brakes.
They are very light, which is why they are so quick, suggest you scope the car mags for a track day with aTVR and have go before you buy, what model Tuscan are you considering (what year)
I had an on/off love affair with Griff's for years, Super car performance, but you need to be driving at your best all the time to keep them on the tarmac.
I would not want to drive it every day, to intense, winters are not to be contemplated, just to much power at the back, and then theres the reliability issue    Certainly not for the faint of heart.
But, you only live once, so fill-your-boots.

My boss had a few and he always said that there was always more than one thing wrong with them at the same time, never had any major problems though, just little things kept going wrong like electrics failing, heater problems, bulbs blowing ...etc

TVR's are alot more reliable now than they were say 3-4+ years ago
I say go for it, as long as warantee is in place you have little to worry about.
A friend of mine has a 1997 Cerbera 4.5 V8 and that thing flies! we were racing motorbikes and keeping up! The sound is amazing, there are just not enough tunnels when you are in a TVR to hear that echoing roar!
Having said that his car has spent more time off the road than on - and thats not even an exaggeration.

my colleague has one and he has been unlucky - he's already had various problems with heating/cooling. i think it's down to luck so hope this one is going to be reliable.
