I never liked the alpina front ends, they suited the E36, but they look dated now with the current designs.

Alpina need to be more imaginative with their designs IMO

Alpina is one of those that do very well for being most unimaginative and conservative. They thrive on their heritage. All their engines are based on blocks that are 10 years old and they never change the design of their wheels for 20 years. They have successfully capture the attention of a niche market that no other tuners have done. Most of them go all out to capture the imagination of their potential buyers and a lot of them over do it.

Nick I don't doubt their engineering at all, and their interiors are literally to die for! but I personally don't like the stealth understated look - I know many people do.
Damn fine cars all in all and I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to do a swap with me! :D

Have to agree, love Alpina engines, hate Alpina styling.
Half a step forward , better to come I'm sure.
I remember when the latest 5 series (E60?) came out; hated it. Coming home tonight, a spanking new 535d drove in front of me at a junction and it looked absolutely stunning. I had to do a double take coz it had the presence of an M5.

The shape still hasnt won me over but it is still the best e90 i've seen so far.
What engine are Alpina shoving in the B3?? Please don't tell me its the same as the B5 and B7... I'll die! ;)

Hmmm, mixed response, interesting. I for one am already finding the E46 getting older by the day (maybe I've stared at the same dash on 3 different cars I've owned). I didn't like the E90 when it was introduced, but realised the potential for modding when I saw those wheel arches. The interior is bland, but not really with the fully loaded versions. I love them now.
I've never been an appreciator of older models and don't understand the fuss with 'classics'. It's the buzz from unfamiliar territory that kind of float my boat, and the E90, E60 are certainly doing it.

Well when you get bored of your car Nick - ;)
I'm not sure to be honest, I looks fairly inoffensive and the alpina looks seems quite nice but the back is still AWFUL on all of them. It's too high, a nasty shape and the lights still look like they belong to a hyundai. I just cannot take the e90 seriously when it's got an arse like that, sorry. :o
Obviously wouldn't say no, but given the choice at the moment, E46 for me.

The new BMW designs you have to look at teh line and the passion put into designing the car the lines the surfaces , the cars are a peice of art 7 , 6 , 5 , 3 , 1 and Z
Hmmm new car designs what a topic.
Personally im in favor of the new gen BM's but let me stay with the 3 to keep it short. Every 3 to date has been an improvement i had always thought? Each generation having its iconic siblings and generally of the M type e30 M3, e36 M3 coupe and the e46 M3 CSL.
The e90 is another step in that direction but i think the issue is that its in its infancy. Given half a chance and people like Nick have already picked up on it with the potential of the photoshop that the e90 is a young mind just waiting to be molded.
Im sure if i had the time and money id purchase one in a heartbeat and drop it oh so carefully in the hands of the likes on Roy and Teddy. Its just going to take that modders flair that i dont possess to CF this and drop that, to flare here and minimize there.... Rock on to what i think will be an awesome new 3 leading to a fantastic M car.
:o
My personal opinion is that I love 'em all. I think that a new step in styling will always get a mixed response and as can be read everywhere the designs of the new beewers has certainly done that. But then with many a car design, you will find with time it will grow on you and you suddenly find yourself thinking 'how could I of ever not liked that...'.
I know when I first saw the MkIV Golf, I thought it was hideous looking, all fat and podgy. But then within a few years, they became a common site and more and more were modded/tuned and I began to love 'em.
I think as you see more and more of the newly guised beemers, more and more will grow to love 'em as much as meeee... [writesmil
..especially that PS'd E90 Nick. That looks SICK :D  :D .
