our main carbon fibre man works and lives in Louisiana , I just got off the phone to him amd am horrified ; apparently the news is only scratching the surface of the true level and frequency of the horrors going on .
He says it is like a horror film , people are actually shooting , beating and maiming each other and worse in front of each other with no second thought to anything .
he and his cousin and one employee are armed to the teeth, barricaded at his home ,riding it all out . Fortunately his family have been away during all this .......
Its hard to imagine this happening in one of our "civilised" countries , and sort of smacks home how small some of our ploblems really are ...a cliche I know but true anyway .
our thoughts and prayers go out to all those suffering
he has just e mailed me pics off his PDA ....JESUS guys I cant even think of posting them , just believe me the TV is showing you NOTHING !!

Roy, hope things get better real quickly for them.
Its hard for us to imagine the devastation & horror for these families who have lost relatives, homes & generally everything they have worked hard for, I can only hope that aid & law comes to order sooner rather than later.
Up until a year ago my father lived & worked just outside New Orleans in a place called Hammond, Louisiana, and frequently told me of the severe storms & tornado's that passed in their hurricane season, obviosly frightening but nothing on the scale of what has just happened.
My thoughts & prayers go to all those who have suffered.

Unbeliveable
thoughts to John, hope hes ok, its amazing that one of the most powerful contries in the world are so slow to react to such a disaster on there own soil.... FFS people expect the american goverment to do something and it seem nothing is being done....
To say bush has droped the ball on this one would be putting it lightly....
Thoughts go to all those affected, like Roys said it makes you think how small your problems really are.. :(

I can't say I've been following this very closely but I hope it all sorts itself out soon. It's amazing how the US have been so slow to react. I hope Bush get's it in the neck for this one, 'cos he can't shift the blame on this time. More to the point, I hope your mate (and everyone else in the same position) can survive the situation, quite literally.

Thats unbelievable, they can't expect things to get better with behaviour like that. They both deserve to lose their job the minute things return to normal. Normal civilians are to a certain extent just taking the opportunity, although it is still wrong, but the police should be setting an example.
~Gets off high horse~
Shows how bad things must be over there.

WTF!, I can't beleive that! , I can understand them taking stuff to maybe give to the elderly but they were obviously "loooting" for themselves, fck  !, It's a good job I didn't join the armed forces when I was 18 otherwise I'd be over there kicking some ass!
..I can't beleive the brazeness of those cops ..fck!

Yeah, good thing dude, wouldn't want you picking up your SA80 and taking a 1-man platoon on a Virgin Atlantic flight over there to fix all the problems.. ;)
Seriously though, you have to ask yourself WTF is going on. I heard a great quote recently - 'the end of civilisation is 4 meals away'. Basically meaning that if you prevent someone from a couple days of their usual lifestyle then they'll devolve in a primal attempt to restore it. Guess there's your proof, and those cops need naming and shaming when this is all done, that behaviour's outrageous...
What's worrying is, this is the country that is dictating the world's attitude of what is wrong and right. This is the country that is the self-professed world superpower. And it's leader goes off on vacation while the affected part of the country gets dragged back into the Dark Ages, with everyone claiming that they have the right to bear arms and they're just doing it to survive. Riiiiiiight.... What a bright future we all have... :(
