Think mine is due a clean.

I have just brought the K&N Recharger kit, can someone kindly explain a quick guide on how to clean the GruppeM induction. Once you remove the induction kit from the engine bay, can the actual filter be removed from the heatshield or do you just clean it with the heatshield still on it?

Cheers guys :D

Disemble the entire unit. Loosen the large jubilee clips and the entire unit comes apart. Take the cone out and wash it in warm soap water. I position the cone like a pyramid under a running tap to preven contaminating the inside of the filter. Use a paint brush and brush off the dirt. Air dry for at least 48hrs and filtercharge it.

the re charger kit should already have the cleaner so don't use soapy water spray the filter with the cleaner and then as nick said with a brush work it into the filter then wash it under cold water to clean the shit out repeat if necc. Leave to dry (don't use a hair drier ) then spray it with the oil (red in colour) job done

I think I'm right in saying that its all about air flow. The Filter may just look like alot of mesh folded over on itself but they are actually designed to create a more freeflowing and less turbulant air supply into your motor.

The older a filter gets, the more dirt and grime you get in it. This interrupts the air flow and creates more turbulance in the air. At the same time as your filter getting dirty, the oil on the filter is getting dried out, absorbed etc. The purpose of the oil, as you would imagine is to lubricate everything and make the air pass through easier.

So in summary, I believe you use a recharger kit to regain the maximum efficency of your air-filter and ensure it has a long a noisy life!

Cheers guys, I will give it a go this weekend.

Nick, do you remove the actual cone filter completly from the heatshield/

Kav, I remember the K&N recharger kit you showed me last time I saw you, that is the one I have purchased. How long do you leave the red oil to soak in?

:D
