hi all,

im new to the forum but have been reading it for a while, and it seems like the right place to ask for some advice.

ive had my 2003 318ci for about 6 months, and i think its time to make a few mods, firstly i dont know very much about engine tuning etc, so please excuse me in advance.

what can i do to the car to make it faster, increase bhp, ive heard induction kits, exhaust systems all this type of thing but i cant find anything for the 318ci, any help is apreciated here.

about me: based in northern ireland
next car: 330ci (had to buy 318ci for insurance reasons)

hey buddy, you've come to the right place ;)

There's a few things you can do to the valvetronic, but it's going to cause some pain.

I've had an induction kit fitted, but I had to modify one from a non-valvetronic 318 and what is normally a 10 minute job turned into a 2 hour job cutting and bending and shaping pipes.

Next up, Eisenmann exhausts. Our very own Teddy (MysticM3) can supply you with a suitable Eisenmann exhaust setup, I've gone for the rear silencer but struggling to get the soundpipes installed, but I'm confident that'll happen this coming weekend.

Recently I've been made aware of a new piggy-back ECU remap which boosts performance. As you know, you drive a valvetronic and as such they cannot be remapped as the ECU is constantly adjusting itself to suit driving style so even if you WERE able to get a remap, it would reset itself over time. However, someone in the far east has got a piggyback system which sits ontop of the standard ECU and is constantly over-boosting the standard settings.

Another guy in Australia has gone and done a balls out turbo version, I'm still awaiting pics and more info, as soon as I hear anything, I'll post up.

Hope that helps

can you point me in the direction of an induction kit that i could use? also other than the induction kit and exhaust are there any other mods available that will beef it up?

cheers agian.

Speak to Teddy again about the induction kit.

I'll try to get more details about the chip and turbo setup but in terms of what's do-able then exhaust and induction are pretty much it I'm afraid

cheers, ill speak to teddy about the induction kit... what sort of gains do the induction give you? is it a noticeable gain? also the exhaust, noticeable or just asthetic?

thanks
