Hi Guys,

After my recent thread about the IS200, I have managed to convince my mate to go for a German; the 530D E60.

Could you please take a look at the link and let me know what you all think?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201035367178047/sort/priceasc/usedcars/fuel-type/diesel/price-to/8000/seller-type/private_adverts/price-from/6000/model/5_series/make/bmw/postcode/ub95ef/radius/40/page/1?logcode=p

Anything I should look out for? Or any possible problems with this model?

I think for the budget it is a good quality car, has FULL condition based servicing from Stephen James BMW in Sidcup.

Look forward to the replies :)

Thanks,

Ash

I have just spoken to the owner and he tells me that the numberplate was stolen last year, due to this he obtained a new plate.

Does this sound legitimate?

What steps can I take to confirm this is true? HPI?

Not sure why you would replace its number if the plate was stolen .Anyway I expect Raj will be along shortly to add his review,as he owned one :)

Does seem a bit strange at the plate.

As for the car itself. I owned one, modded it quite a bit and thrashed it round the Ring. It was superb. I do still miss it really.

However, I had to replace 2 injectors, a turbo and an intercooler. They say these are quite common failures, but tbh if you look at the number of them on the roads compared to the number that have problems, I'd still have another.

Just get it checked thoroughly and consider a warranty (be it BMW or warrantydirect, etc).

Comfort seats are superb, but it doesn't have the complete media pack which is a shame, but not a major issue. Through load system, xenons and dimming mirrors are also great optional extra's. Not a badly specced car really.

I'd be worried abt the plate change... maybe give dvla a call to see if they do that!

Thanks for the replies,

I did a hpi check and evrything came up clean, including the plate change.

Apparently the owner changed the plate after they were stolen as he was worried about cloning..

If it all comes up okay then I can see his reasoning behind the change if it was fear of cloning.

Agreed. If it's all clear then no worries. Really it's no different to putting on a private plate.

Thanks Raj,

Viewed the car today, all was going well until the test drive, the turbo was really lagging think it was on its way out and the exhaust was really loud even inside the car so we decided to leave it.

Going to view a couple more this week.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate it :)
