Guys, the old man has picked up an e39 and its got one of those electronic blinds in the back but we cant seem to find a switch or anything to make it go up and down.
It was fitted at the dealer as far as i can tell from the paper work but god knows where a button or whatever is!!! is there a button???

Cheers in advance [hmm

Knowing the e39 it probably senses how hot the glass is and does the blind accordingly or something stupidly over-engineered like that. :p

Oh and congrats on the purchase. :)

Congrats to your dad on the purchase. There is deffo a button in the centre console as my brother-in-laws previous E39 had the sunblind. Just try hitting every button in turn ;)

Does it have guide wires up either side of the rear screen, know sounds stupidbut could just be a manual one?

I've just fitted a manual one on my e46.

The electric ones do have a button... also check the fuses - incase it has some kind of autosensing mechanism....

Cheers guys, hmm maybe ill have a close look at this thing for a sensor, im starting to get the feeling that its manual as i still cant find a button or switch, unless the blinds there with the wires and just not wired up ???

Two e39's and an e46 not such a bad little family. [read

On the e46 if it's electric the are two thin wires which are attached to the ends of the shade and the the top of the rear screen.

Mine is retrofit manual as they no longer do the retrofit electric and you could probably tell if it's manual as the electric might not have a little tab half way along the screen which you hold to pull the shade out of it's holder.
