Hey guys just popped over from e36coupe.com having a look round. Next cars gonna be a 330ci sport so thought I'd get a headstart.
I know what spec etc I want and when the right one comes along I'll know :) But, just been looking at autotrader today and for the price of a specc'ed up 330 I could get an early M3
So, do I 'make do' with an early M3 or keep looking for THE 330ci

Part of the plan is to get a nice sporty car straight out of the factory so no need to spend ££££'s on it. mind you I said that about my current 325

Welcome Pete [hiya
Like I have said before, E46 M3s are quite affordable to buy now but don't forget to factor in the running cost. The 330 is much more affordable to run.
My cost in 8 months of M ownership (http://forum.evotechnik.net/showthread.php?t=3215) and that's excluding mods. If you can, go for the M3! You won't look back once you've tasted M power!

Cheers for the input Nick, appreciated. I only use my car at the weekends too, so fuel isnt a major factor. Best insurance quote so far as been £968 FC :D
Its the Inspections that worry me, although I could probably get a discounted prize but it would still be expensive compared to a 330.
Need to give it some thought, just need to clear the remainder of the current credit card balance and see what happens. If I go for an M3 and worst comes to the worst, I could sell it :(

Exactly. 100% agree with Nick and I asked the same thing three months ago...the M3 is fantastic but I couldn't do it. I had £23k to spend and I looked at a few early 01/02 M3s with circa 35k on the clock. But they felt old and worn compared to the kind of 330Ci I could get for the same money, no warranty and high performance running costs (£700 for inspection one). But then it is an M3!
If the M3 is worth the extra to you then you should definetly go for it, but bare in mind its a whole other proposition financially. The 330Ci is still a fantastic (fast) car and won't dissapoint. I love the M3 but I do not feel like Im missing out if that makes sense.

Thats my concern, I could get a fully loaded, near mint 330Ci or an aged M3 :( Think its gonna be the 330 with CSL boot and wheels [cool

I would go for the 330 mate, stepping up from a e36 325 will be amazing enough, leave the m3 for next time. :)

Just looked at the thread http://forum.bmwcarmagazine.com/topic2.asp?TOPIC_ID=33258 and he is saying he would sell it for £23K He might even accept a lower figure if he knows its going to a good home.
