Maybe you can try supplying your own oil. A lot of dealers allow that as long as you use 'BMW approved' Castrol/Mobil synthetic. You can bulk buy the oil from German and Swedish, Euro Car Parts etc, but only worth it if you could pick up the oil yourself. Tend to save around £20.
The reason why a dealer service is expensive is because of the horrendous labour charges, not the psrts. Dealers outside cities tend to be cheaper. You can't blame them, they have HUGE overheads.
When it comes to inspection services, changing brake pads and discs yourself will save you a fair bit on service charges too.

when i had mine serviced, i make sure they let me know all the extra's cost beside the basic service which they charged!!!
e.g changing brake pad, tyres, oil, filter etc.
all the basic things alot of other garages can also do but cost less.
i make sure it has the bmw stamp on my service book.
and i ended up with a bill of around £250 for inspection II with the dealer.
around £60 for changing the pads, oil in my local garage, it'll cost me £200 more with the dealer.
