Ok, heres one,

If you have a 330 Sport convertible with all the m-tech bits on it as standard. Does that justify an 'M' badge on the back? not an M3 badge because that would be silly obviously, but an M badge?

Did BMW ever fit these as standard to non M3 cars?

What do you reckon?

As long as you can justify it yourself, you don't really need anybody's approval. IMHO, it'll look off purely because the M lettering is so strongly associated with BMW Motorsport. OK with door sills but an M badge in the bootlid tends to represent the car more than factory embellishment.

So the general consensus in the BMW community regardless of the fact its a 'M Sport' according to the brochure is, it aint an M Car so don't pretend it is?

I'm new to the BMW world and just trying to get by bearings :D

last year one of our "younger " customers asked us to do some mods on his brand new 318 N42 , and at same time he made us fit 9 ..yes that's right NINE M badges all over the car , as well as 4 "V10" badges off new M5 .....

lets just say he ruined it ....;)

obviously this is an extreme case , but yes in general an M badge on a non - M car is frowned upon . But you know what ....I bet almost all BM owners have done that at some time , I know I did on my firts ever BM an e30 325 :)

A good tuner badge carries a loyt more weight IMO , such as hamann , RD ACS etc .....but you must have some of their parts fitted of course :)

Well in the BMW comunnity every body will know thats not an M3 but to people who wouldn't know they might get confused , for me putting an M badge is like putting a 330 badge on a 318 .

the one on the steering wheel comes with the wheel its self , the one on the wheels you cant do anything about, but the one on the Boot is the one that means something ;)

either a badge or a couple of stickers Roy. I had the eisenmann done a few weeks ago if you remember, just waiting to get the sound pipes done when Giles is back from holiday mate.

Pending on where you live, has an impact on what is the M standard.

Here in New Zealand what you call the Sports model is actually called the Motorsport. So if youve got a 318 Motorsport then this comes standard from the dealer with an M on the back. The same can be said with my mothers 530 Motorsport, reason why my ride now has an M on its ass as its got every standard sport piece of kit although not factory fitted.

At the end of the day its up to you, the M doesnt make my ride go any faster ahaha ;)
