My old man is wanting to add a little bass to the HK system in his 02 330 vert. He quite likes the quality of the HK speakers but says that it just lacks bass from the puny sub.
I have an alpine amp/sub combo in my e36 and he would like something similar but doesnt know how easy it is to add to the HK system + whether he is going to lose lots of bootspace in the vert.
He's also seen the infinity basslink, but he + I am unsure as to how much bass this can kick out. I.e. whether it can actually compare to a sub/amp combo at all?
Anyone got any experience of similar?

Basslink is your best bet. Compact enough but still packs a punch. It's not exactly quality bass but gives you the effect without sacrificing too much space. Dedicated amp and sub in an enclosure will sound better but it's heavier and tend to be more bulky.

Does anyone know if the majority of the bass is lost in a vert? and therefore needs a much more powerful system?
Does anyone currently have a basslink installed to review it?

Hello mate. I've got a vert and went through all the viariants you've listed.
HK system - got used to the bass very very quickly and wanted something more. Installed the basslink and it made a significant difference for sure. As Nick says, it's a compact little unit and very good value for money. However, I since upgraded to 2 JL Audio 10's and that's obviously a night a day difference and there's no way you can compare a basslink to a proper install.
At the moment, I've gone back to basics and have returned to my standard HK system. As part of my proper install, I had the rear armrest ported, and it REALLY makes a difference. Ask your old man to remove his rear armrest completely, it really makes a difference, he may well be impressed with the HK :)

Any idea if the basslink will fit near the armrest hatch or does it not matter where it is in the boot?
Might well be worth trying this as a first course of action.
Cheers guys

Doesn't really matter, anywhere in the boot you'll still get the effect.
