"Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buy the car now for birthday gift for brother in-law and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding the car. I really want it to be a surprise for my brother in-law so i wont let him know anything about it until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for it and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.co.uk and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments...

Thanks"

AM not sure whether the above is true?? Am feeling a scam somewhere!!

Scam!!!

My mate who is a dealer said the same thing happened to him.

Some guy bought a car off him for £10k, the guy paid using a switch card over the phone. He sent a transporter to pick the car.

Three months later the bank called him saying that the card was stolen and he needs to pay back the £10k...

Luckly for him he knew somebody at DVLA who was able to forward him the address of where the car was, he went down to the house with a transporter and took the car back.

Annoys the crap out of me, got a couple of these when I sold my CTR. If genuine they will call you and come see the car.

Play with it a bit, waste their time and make them think you are falling for it, have a bit of fun with the moron :D say you have reduced the price of the car to £5000 because it has a small dent and you have set up a pay pal account and your email address is stopwastingpeoplestimeyouc*nt@aol.com

LOL

I smell a rat here!

If I was to sell my car, I would accept either cash delivered and deposited at my bank or a bankers draft. Paypal is charging 3.5%, who wants to pay it when selling the car?

So the answer is this is 99.99% scam.

BIG TIME SCAM. You see them on autotrader advertising cars half their value ie. 2008 5 series with 40k for six grand. email only advert. Then when you contact the seller they give a story like the above. con....

he pays pay pal, you deliver the car then he disputes or cancels payment, my sister sold a car stereo the chap payed paypal collected the radio then cancelled his payment, but forgot he had already asked for her to deliver and had given his address, it turned out he'd done this several times before .....

Whenever someone can't come and see the car themselves, always walk away.
