When i brought these the discs was very slightly warped. God knows how, but anyway i spoke to Roy as they originally came from yourselves and he said it would be fine to get the discs skimmed. Before i done so i done a track day, about 5 laps at the most and it absolutely killed the discs to the extent you dare not put your foot on the brake at high speed for fear of shaking the car to pieces. Maybe because they was a little warped before is the reason they went this bad, but if so i'm concerned why they warped in the first place, after all, you would'nt expect a £3000 plus BBK to warp this bad in such a short while. I have the brake cooling duct open on mine to.

I have recently had them skimmed but now i'm thinking maybe the pads need replacing with new although the pads are like brand new. What are my choices in pads? And if you have any knowledge of how and why they would become as warped as they did to help it not reoccurring in the future it would be great.

Thank in advance.
Dave.

Hi Mate,

Depending on how hard they are used on a track day, they may well warp. Also, many cases of suspected disc “warp” is actually uneven pad deposition.

Far as I can see there is no need to change the pads, this will not help. However if the discs have been shimmed it is imperative that they are bedded in again using the corrcet procedure, otherwise uneven pad deposits will occur again.

cheers Phil

Ok mate, thanks.

Yeah i'll bed them in as you would from new.

Just out of interest, what pads would you have put in? They was the one's Carl ( Cableguy ) had on his black M5, and i remember speaking to Roy and him saying you fitted new pads. Just wondered if they would be fast road pads or just standard.

Thanks again Phil
Dave

Hi Dave,

Just checked with Roy, he said it would have been Tarox fast road pads but couldn't confirm as it was about 4 years ago

cheers Phil

Good to see the Brakes are still alive and kicking. ;)

It did take a while to get this setup right. Bedding in was done as advised by Roy, however it took another visit to my Indy for adjustment etc. to get them working true and free of wheel wobble!

Hope all gets sorted.

Hi Carl. Yeah, there was a tiny shudder when i got them off Luke, but for the price i paid i was more than happy.

I'm gutted that i wasn't flush enough at the time, else i would have had all the goodies off your car mate. I was def having the headers at one point but as me and Luke lived so far appart it was to awkward to arrange the swap.

Shame about the Headers Dave, they really made a difference to the engine tone and performance. Pretty rare too particularly in the UK... I can only think of Tin's car with the same setup.

Still, sounds like you're having fun in the big 5, great cars, enjoy. ;)
