Hmmm.... well the outside is a little chavish but a very nice color and I actually like the interior although it is a little OTT. You have to admire the work that has gone into this machine though. Everything looks perfect and that steering wheel, although not to my taste, must have taken a long time to get perfect as it is!

is it? he did mention a supercharged 540i.. N** ACS i think was the plate of the car feature i saw a year or 2 ok in a bmw mag, I'm not slating the work thats been done, just the choice in mods.. the wide body kit imho doesn't flow, the front bumper is no no, the rear will look alot better without the all clear celis lights, bootlid spoiler isn't too bad, but need more pics... wheels erm not to my liking.. but fair play to all the efforts from all those involved.

Yep, Andy spent considerable time on that. Not to everyone's taste but it's a typical British showcar.....ie. shout as loud as you can. At least it's got a supercharged 4.4L V8 instead of a Vauxhaull Nova engine ;) However, I do admire the effort put in and the creativeness; overdone IMO but the owner can't help it, especially when you have £200K budget to do up a car!

yikes.. 200k! with that budget, i'm sure a quad lambo door or rx8 style doors could have been done? not sure if it'd be any better, but still innovative.

yep that's Neils car. Won best BMW at Max Power, which is a shame bearing in mind that Neil was going for Car of Show which he failed to acheive the year before and was his motivation for this year.
I've met Neil when I paid Andy a visit one time, nice enough guy, but just doesn't have the vision of a complete car. His ideal is everything that CAN be modded, mod it, but without taking a step back and seeing if everything flows. Very stubborn, you can't tell him he's wrong either.
Personally ,the widebody is crud, the interior, bar the steering wheel is awesome, the ICE is phenomenal. Apparently 2005 is all about show, next year is all about go. He's turning the car into a 1/4 mile drag strip animal, allegedly

already told him about EvoTechnik, he wasn't interested. It's all about "UberTuning" which is his own thing I think.
Doesn't matter. Opinions are like areseholes. Everyone has one. Neils the type of person that doesn't give a toss what other people think

I would say that that would ahve been an almost impossible thing to do...
Especially when you are up against the likes of SQ Plus and Charisma with other companies not far behind either.
I'm not to sure on the car either, i think sometimes subtle can do it so much better than full on, and having bottles of alcohol will never go down well anywhere when it comes to judging, they frown on it, and that is for sure.
Tin you going wideboy too? :p
Like the detail in the interior, looks like a lot of efforts gone into it. Way OTT for me but as a show car its great eye candy.

Like has already been said A LOT of work has gone into that car, and has been said before something more showy from the outside like the wide body kit and 4 x lambo doors (seen this on an e36 saloon) or rx8 doors would grab attention more.
Do like the work that has gone into the interior, see on the window done by Gibson and Boyne who are down near me and was gonna get them to do a couple of my seats - they do quite a lot of show and cover cars.

Am I going insane or is the door speaker in backwards on the 4th pic? I presume theres some special point to that?

Fas ... I am sure this is NOT neil car , if that's who you mean ( featured in PBMW some months ago, )
a similar concept , but not same car I am sure ????
forgive me if you are talking about a different guy ..its just your description of the person seemed to match

Nope. Same guy. Was in PBMW last year, complete make-over for this year and I'm sure another makeover for next years show season.

One important part of modding is to not care what other people think , the most important thing for him that he likes it , as for me I don't

i CANT BELIEVE IT !!
i saw this car some 18 months ago when it was first built and it was, in my opinion , AWESOME ......
I am not being rude or disrespectful to Neil but the car seems to have taken a backward direction since then in terms of styling .Still , each to their own .
Also Fas , Whizz has a point , please can you delete Neils surname from my previous post , just in case , ta

Removed, but the amount of press that car has had, I'm sure everyone will know who's it is.
And I agree, last years image was nicer, very understated, phenomenal interior and just awesome all round car. However, the paint job on the bonnet was flawed, which was done by another company I know you had dealings with Roy ;) but have since gone out of business.

yes , we did some work with Dantec in then past .
whatever you hear , they did a fantastic job of the exterior initial design and conception , especially making the (original ) wide arches ( made from cutting and shutting e46 m3 wings and arches ) , wing and bonnet vents etc.
Unfortunately things started to unravel just before lambo door and paint time , and neil never gave Dantec the credit for the work they did do .
CA was in no way involved in this car , fyi

I thought the original wide arches were taken from an e39 touring? That's what I remember reading anyway.

like i say , you will hear a lot of different stories about this car , I get the impression so that all attention and credit would be diverted away from dantec .
I was actually physically present during much of the initial bodywork mods , as we were working on another project at the same time , I can assure you M3 arches were used . Same as we have done on the e24 M6 project we have been posting up about over last few months .

I spoke to Neil at Maxpower. I personally dont like the car and what its become. Its last version was near perfect. Although in the pics it isnt finished. The wheels were the wrong offset (you can see at the front) But was too late to change them for the show. Id like to see this up against and M5 though, 500bhp but it has a slush box too.

With the weight it's lugging, I doubt it'll be a match performance wise. Also, I would think Neil's car is for show purposes, even the supercharger conversion. Imagine driving it hard, the amount of torque to pull the amount of weight, the autobox will just disintegrate!

Yeah, i know its not gonna be as fast as an M5, but with that amount of money into engine, i would have thought a manual box would be in order. Especially if its gonna be turned into a drag car.
I met him about 18 months ago at a meet in Bournemouth. Then he'd just given it's first makeover. An M5 lookalike with ACS styling, otherwise subtle and cool mods. He was featured in PBMW in summer of 2004 when it was like the pics I've posted. Then by Sept 2004, he'd given it another makeover! It was completely different to what I had seen! Now it's different again!!!
When he bought the car, he had a shortlist of the 540i or an Aston Martin. He went for the 540i to give him the satisfaction on modding. He doesn't care how much money has gone into it, he can't describe how much happiness modding that car has given him.
