LPG questions

Just wondering...

- if you have an LPG conversion on a V8 does the engine sound the same?
- does it waste your entire boot?
- can you get LPG most places?
- is it loads cheaper?
- do you lose many horses?
- anyone know anyone who has had their vehicle converted?

...just in case I get an X5 next instead of a 330 Touring :) as I've seen a couple that have been converted.

I've seen it on a Vectra and after speaking with the taxi driver, this is what he said:

- 1800gbp to convert (from approved installer)
- 3 years@12k/year to recover initial outlay
- no London congestion charge
- boot space is reduced by around 30%
- MPG increased from 25mpg to 50mpg (equivalent)
- no power loss
- not many petrol stations have LPG but is increasing at the mo

would it be more dangerous if you had an accident?...... Also i remember the guy who did the tints. His people carrier was converted. He said it wasnt major increase in MPG (like mitsu said that guy got :eek:!).... but obviously at the price its going for you can go twice as far with the same money (i think).

Also on the boot space matter he said he was getting a new kind of tank installed which went under the car instead of in the boot. Might be worth looking in 2.
