I have some 7 1/2j x 17 alloys you can have for nothing!
Reckon I'd squeeze a set of 225/45/17 tyres on them if they are 7.5j? what tyre sizes did you use to run?
I've got my 10mm spacers so might still clear the calipers with the spacers on  let me know matey would be very cool...

I had 215's on them so 225's should be fine.

What were they for initially? e36?
I been told the E39 will never go on the E90...
ps didn't one of them have a flat spot or some reason that the last guy didn't want them ?

Now that Mega... is a steal! Literally. What a nice offer :)
PS. they'll be fine with 225's. I know silvia and skyline owners running upto 240's on 7.5J wheels so rest assured. Spacers may not be necessary either dependant on offset...
Can you let me know the offset Brendan so I can see how they are with the inner arches?
I'm mostly worried about 7.5J going over the calipers, but I think with my spacers it might be ok. 10mm is obviously not quite half an inch though. So sods law ... :p
Awesome deal mate and if it works out I will be forever in your debt :)

yeh they were for the e36. ET 40
and yeh i was told that one had a flat spot but dont know if that is true or he just wanted his money back.
anyway they are free if you want them.

Mega, you do realise that caliper clearance is dictated by offset, not width yes? 7.5J just means 7.5 inch wide with a J bead profile. The clearance will be determined by the offset... If you tell me what the current tire width and offset is of the wheels on the car already I can tell you the difference in positions between that and a 225 x ET40 wheel and tire combo...

To give you an idea... a hub position that is exactly central on an alloy has an ET of 0. a hub position closer to the outside of the wheel will have a positive ET and one closer to the inside of the wheel willl have an offset with a negative ET. Clearance will be determined by spoke position not wheel width... Granted if the wheel width is reduced by 0.5" the required offset will be affected by half of half an inch... so effectively, less than a cm.
An inch is 25.4mm
8.0" - 7.5" = 0.5"
0.5" = 0.5 x 25.4mm = 12.7mm
Offset is based on hub position in relation to the centre of the wheel and so in effect, half of its width. Therefore in offset terms it will have an impact of half the difference in overall wheel width; 12.7mm. This means on the ET it is a 6.35mm difference. Potentially with a lower offset than what is currently on the car they will fit straight on.
Ie. if the new wheels ET is 7 or more mm LESS than what is currently on the car, they will clear fine with no spacers :)
Offset + Width, not just one or the other right ?
Front: 235 / 35 / 19. 8.5J
Rear: 265/30/19 9.5J
Not sure what my current ET is, I THINK its 34 / 37 respectively ?
I should be fine then though. Without the spacers me wheels fitted straight on. I then moved the wheel away from the caliper 10mm and it still fitted (obiously there was 10mm more clearance at this point ... ). Sounds like it SHOULD fit even without my spacers and will definitely fit with them ...
Brendan - once I hear about my tyres turning up I'll drop you a PM...
