We have tried it on Teddy's M3. Not straight forward dude. Welding the hinges to the chassis is a must.

Good kits cost £1000, around the same £ for labour too.

I looked into this last year, but then Durgesh showed me a few lambo door kits at HIN this year and the doors were flimsy as hell, i.e. when they were up, the slightest breeze would send them swinging. Recently though, there was an e46 coupe with lambo doors at an Ace Cafe meet. The hinge mechanism was awesome, VERY strong when up, and solid when closing. The kit was around £1200, plus another £500 for the labour - car was being stripped for a respray so saved on some labour costs.

One of Roy's customers' has an e46 drop top with the conversion and it looks badass. Again, it's a quality kit, and pricey, out of my league (for now).

What WOULD be different is suicide doors! That's never been done yet!

Suicide Doors open from the opposite end to a standard car. Think of the Mazda RX8, that has rear Suicide Doors [ok

So I guess I am the only one that thinks lambo doors are about the most tasteless mod ever made?

IMO seeing them on anything but supercar exotica is laughable; not only does it look like shite, but its impractical, expensive to do right and will make you look a complete to$$er at Tescos...its a 3 Series, not a Diablo. Sorry but I just don't get the appeal

if i had the money. Id do it in a heartbeat. The fact the doors can open normally AND up appeals to me :D... that way certain situation u can use them regular but for those certain moments when it would look pimp would be heavy :D :D

i think the lambo door is practical only when you're parking in supermarket carparks and in a single garage at home.
but alot of the lambo doors doesn't lift up directly, you'll have to push the door out about a 1/4 before you can lift the door up.
i saw one fitted on a civic type R and that's how it works.

Not a fan of lambo doors as I too think they just don't look right on anything other than a lambo. Suicide doors however, I think would look sweet. And it would deffo be different.

Not my cup of tea personally.
I think unless you actually have a lambo, they just look silly.
Each to their own tho.

I just enquired about lambo doors with roy before this thread started but not sure if i'll go for it now! the kit is about £900 for the ones that fold up 90 degrees, but after all the negative response's i think i'll leave it!!! :(

if it's 90 degrees one, then i would go for it, you should go and take a look in person before you decide.
at the end of the day, what ever it's happy for you not for anyone else.
you can't satisfy everyone.

how about the first to have a door like the BMW Z1?
