I was speaking with a friend and we are not sure...
Please can somebody tell me if the M3 CS comes with a multi-function steering wheel, or does it have just one button, the M track function.
Confirmation through a website would be even better.
TIA,
Vik

Be interested to meet the person who pays £3.5k extra for crappier rims, and a non-multi-function M wheel and what is essentially an identical car to a standard M3

those are the same rims on the CSL , and it has a tweaked suspension :)

And upped power slightly, aswell as the steering rack off the CSL which has a better feel over normal M3, plus a few other bits.
There is an article in one of my motor magazines where they take it to The Ring and put it through it's paces.
Cheers

For the Discerning Driver Who Wants the Ultimate in M3 Handling Performance
Already renowned for its performance and handling, the new Competition Package takes M3 performance to the razor’s edge. Every aspect of the M3’s handling has been tweaked resulting in the best-handling M3 ever.
The wheels are 19-inch forged-alloy wheels with high-performance tires. They connect to a suspension that has been tuned specifically for the Competition Package. Turn-in is quicker with a more direct steering ratio which goes from 15.4:1 to 14.5:1.
M Track mode and brake system taken from the BMW M3 CSL
The Dynamic Stability Control system includes a less intrusive M track mode, as on the M3 CSL, ensuring the security of DSC and spirited driving too. For inclement conditions the regular DSC mode remains. The brakes, also adopted from the M3 CSL, include compound and cross-drilled rotors. The front rotors have also been enlarged from12.8 to13.6 inches.
As the serious enthusiast would expect, the Competition Package is available in combination with the standard six-speed manual or the optional Sequential Manual Gearbox.
The interior enhancements of the package are subtle but purposeful. The Alcantara steering wheel and handbrake grip feel good to the touch. The addition of the steering wheel-mounted button for the DSC M track mode requires the deletion of the multi-function controls and cruise control. The Competition Package is available with all M3 Coupe interior and exterior color combinations. Two trim items are exclusive to the Competition Package. Special Competition Package aluminum trim is included on the interior. A new exterior color, Interlagos Blue, is offered only with this package.
The Competition Package will be available for 2005 M3 Coupes beginning with December 2004 production and it will make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The price for the package will be $4,000.

:D :D :D
The M3 CS's wheels are different to the M3 CSL's wheels, they are a different offset I think but I know they are a tad heavier.
And the Std M3 & the M3 CS both have 343bhp

Have to agree with Biggy on this one!
Personally, I'd rather have the standard M3 loaded to the brim.
Does electronic Lumbar support come as standard (I know I had to request to have it factory fitted to my 330Ci Sport)?

its kind of a CSL , but with the normal M3 weight and power, it slots bwtween the normal M3 and the CSL I would think
Not sure how to take that comment, so I'll let BMW do the talking Link (http://ecom.bmwgroup.com/ecom32/GB/BMW/en/pages/vse/index.jsp?process=vse¤t_page=select_model_engine¤t_process_step_index=2&finish_page=../vse/finish_content.jsp&selectedModel=BL92&selectedOptions=&random=0.16025207311065692)

what I meant it has the steering rack brakes , M track mode , from the CSL , it has a better suspension set up so if you would arrange the the CSL , M3 Cs , and normal M3 in term of performance levels when comparing them (from highest to lowest ):
1.CSL
2.M3 with Competition package
3. Normal M3
If you get what I mean
Have the evo review of the package here Right Click And Save (http://www.hvweb.co.uk/jazz/BMW_M3_CS.pdf)
The alloys aren't as light as CSL ones but lighter than stock 19"

I would pay for that steering rack! It's that good. Drive a CSL and you'll know what I mean. Nicely weighted and you hardly need to cross over to make the tighest turns. M-Track mode is really useful too as discovered at Nurburgring. Standard DSC interferes too much. No DSC is too hairy. You want it just right and M-Track mode is AWESOME! [ok

Id buy the CS package, as Nick says it comes with the quicker steering rack, M track mode, Csl style wheels, CSL brakes (okay but still not brilliant). It also has revised dampers to the CSL and seems to sit a little higher:confused: .
Also i got a price for a full loaded M3 CS brand new for 46k thats with every single option or 48k with the full leather individual dash.
