Does anyone know of, or are thinking seriously about Supercharging their e39 M5???
I would be seriously interested to hear comments before I give it some serious thought [hmm mainly warranty issues & general reliability are my concerns!

lol.. std bmw warranty is voided very easily, you touch the engine and its pretty much gone.
roy's new kit will push out around 610bhp at the flywheel.. around 15% traction loss on a m5.. means it'll be chuckin out 518.5bhp rwhp which is very very good!
cableguy, i am/was considering this very seriously, but alas do not have the funds this year to go ahead with it on my car, due to my forthcoming marriage plans[hmm.
I have pretty much everything else ready to get this done, uprated clutch,brakes,exhaust,suspension.. only thing needed is rear subframe strengthening, supercharger kit+ecu tuning, and warranty. :D car is running very nicely at the moment, i might add ;)

forthcoming marriage
yuo have to do this before you get married or you'll never going to do it , marriage isn't as important as modding your car :D

Great pictures Roy, that thing looks like it's going to be an absolute animal! You're quickly establishing yourself as the premier BMW supercharger in the UK, good job!
One question, the pic second from bottom, showing what looks like an air intake (blue) underneath the car, won't it be susceptible to picking up all kinds of crap there? Or is there some kind of tray-like cover like the e46's have which goes under there? IF there IS a cover, will you use some kind of ducting to get a good cold air feed there?

Yeah there must be some kind of guard, theres no way id be putting £6k of SC under my car without some kind of protection.
Looks like its all coming on well though. But i would honestly forget any kind of warranty. When you tune a car that far, there are so many variables that could go wrong. Anyone would be lucky if they could find any kind of warranty to cover this.

yep, alot of established tuners say that the s62 engine can't be supercharged reliably, hence 10 out of 10 for going ahead with this, with the likes of AA/Dinan/ESS/discovery automotive and CA bringing out forced induction for the s62 engine, it'll be a very interesting 6-12mths [read

yes, the underneath is all covered up by 3 pieces of tray undercarriage, don't really need any cold air feed to these parts, as the air feed to the cone filters is pretty much directly behind the foglights in the bumper.
This kit does do away with the aa cai that i have on my car. (cools the front brakes, and feeds air up into the engine bay).
thanks cableguy, although its not quite signed on da dotted line ;) lol
other plans to extract alittle more power or cosmetic (tarty) mods would be possibly, slightly bigger throttle bodies, plenum spacer, carbon plenum, maybe redo the ice (inline with todays fashion trend ;) lcd screens, subs, car pc, change the wheels etc.. but its not as good as more power :D would love to give the new m5 a run for its money ;) hehehe

The air is intercooled before entering the engine anyway ;)

Upgrade your bodyshell to a smaller one.....E46? :p ......then you'll save 400KGs [banana

hi guys
I think its safe to say this converversion will negate any BMW warantee :)
I too have been asking about splash guards etc Fas , will post up info soon .
Much as CA would love to take full credit for this conversion , although we are assisting ,most of the initial development work and engine building is being carried out by another european tuner we work closely with , such as on the old shape M6 twin supercharger V8 project we are doing , featured on a seperate post. CA will however be heavily invloved in road testing and "real World " development once we fit the kits to our UK customers cars .
